I personally would like to thank my senators Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley for being decent people and understanding that most of us do not live anything close to the lives of a senator.

One can't help wondering about their motives.

(53,764 posts)pretty isolated from the realities of life of the average American, even more now since the pandemic has beset the rest of us.
People are suffering and ditching the filibuster, which the republicans are itching to use on Biden's agenda of major bills coming down the roadinfrastructure, alternate energy, voting rights etc., should be obvious for them to see but they prefer to play the "I care about the minority" game.
I don't think they're that naive or plain stupid. IMO they like being in the balance-of-power seats and have both parties having to court them for their vote.
They both need to get on board with their party and save the economy and get everyone back to work.

(23,926 posts)(usually after another egregiously bigoted or just plain stupid bit of Republican ratfuckery), it occurs to me that were it not for the freeing of millions of enslaved human beings, the Civil War was pretty much a pyrrhic victory.
