I get radio news from NPR & the BBC.
The BBC is doing a good job talking about it. In very very short this morning the BBC is covering the military coup in Myanmar and the military has been trying to force the local police to fire on the protestors. Several police officers went over the border into India, others went to Thailand. The military have evicted railroad workers from their provided housing b/c protestors have been given shelter there.
thx.
***_Edited to add-I do NOT have cable or TV, I do listen to radio based news media.
Sympthsical
(9,073 posts)People post videos and news stories fairly regularly about it. Our MSM seems entirely absent about it.
Our MSM is just terrible. Just loaded the CNN homepage. The first half is about the Covid bill. The second half . . . nonsense. Total nonsense no one ever really needs to know.
I mean, Taco Bell is bringing back the Quesalupa. That's something, I suppose.

(58,785 posts)those inclined have Fox, OANN, and Newsmax. Googling says they're all "covering" it.
Both CNN and MSNBC are political discussion and mostly news free, especially MSNBC but I've seen discussion on CNN.

(14,118 posts)Also news about floods, droughts, Meaghan and pics of kittens and puppies. And how to
eat toast and jam. I could go on but I won't. You've got to decide these things for yourself.

(32,971 posts)what are you meaning here.."You've got to decide these things for yourself?" I'm good with toast & jam
thx

(14,118 posts)found a replacement in foreign sources that satisfies me. You obviously have internet
access so it's up to you to decide where to get your news. If you're already proficient
in dealing with toast and jam I'm sure you could find other items of interest.
FYI I read the AlJazeera, BBC, CBC/Canada, Guardian and view the Reuters photos
on a daily basis.
Note: Although AlJazeera has been reported to have established a Right-wing blog I've seen no mention of it on their news site and have been unable to find out a way to access it. If I wanted to. I don't read Reuters news though I have that link available since it's more
of the same content I get from The BBC and The Guardian.
But don't let me influence you in your decision!

(16,616 posts)Also, strangely, Bloomberg Radio overnight is pretty good on foreign and international affairs.
It used to be possible to watch Sky News and Al Jazeera English online (it may still be but I haven't checked recently). I know some people don't like Sky News, but I watched a lot of UK political and Brexit coverage on that station and found it to be decent coverage.

(4,673 posts)International news, mostly Deutsche Welle and France 24, but Amanpour and PBS NewsHour do cover it also. Id say international is more consistent though.

(18,402 posts)I dont know about the network news because I dont really ever catch it.
Do not be surprised that cable news does not cover it: their business is political gossip, hurricanes, and scandal pretty much exclusively. Not news in general, and rarely any foreign news. I dont watch it anymore unless there is a specific political event or issue (the Capitol insurrection, President Bidens speech tomorrow evening) that I want to watch.
