I braved DeSantis' Hunger Games vax appointment "system" and won

The non-system Florida has is such a trainwreck. I was lucky as hell I was able to snag a vax. Had my first Moderna shot at Publix yesterday, my arm hurts like bloody hell this morning and I keep dozing, so I took the day off from work to cuddle with the kittahs and sleep.

DeSantis should be in prison for crimes against humanity.

Good luck and Godspeed getting vaxxed. May the odds be ever in your favor.

I had the opportunity to be in on a Zoom meeting with the new chair of the Florida Democratic Party, Manny Diaz. He sounded good and was spot on for a lot of the reasons we don’t do well here. He said he would have a plan out in April for how to turn the state around. I’m looking forward to reading it. If Georgia can do it, so can we.
Hope you feel better soon. Kitten purrs help.

There's a startling disconnect between white liberals and a significant segment of Black and Hispanic voters that needs to be addressed by the Democratic Party.

It was covered in a segment on Morning Joe today, with David Shor, head of Data Science for Open Labs. Here's a link to the New York Magazine article about the latest election "autopsy":
https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2021/03/david-shor-2020-democrats-autopsy-hispanic-vote-midterms-trump-gop.html

A video of the interview is posted on MSNBC's website on the Morning Joe page.

with the demographics there. He talked about the importance of messaging and responding quickly when Republicans pull their usual bs. He also addressed the lack of on going activities by local dem entities and the past practice of waiting until elections to get up and running. He strongly believes, and I agree, we need to be doing all year. Whether it’s voter registration drives, food bank drives, info tables at farmer’s markets etc. We have to have a full-time presence.

I saw on the news that Florida was going to start giving vaccinations to people under 65 with certain conditions including high blood pressure, which I have. I simply called, when asked if I had a condition, I said I had high blood pressure, and my appointment was scheduled for the following day. I was told to bring my pill bottle with me as proof that I was being treated for high blood pressure. I went to the Brownsville church just off of Mobile Hwy to get my shot. The group that is administering the shots have things very well organized. I was extremely impressed with how well they are handling the job.

My experience was different from yours. I'm hoping that things will get better as more vaccines are made available. Biden is doing a wonderful job in my opinion.

My arm hurts as well. I did sleep soundly last night and it was difficult to bring myself to get out of bed this morning. Not sure if it's the vaccine that caused me to be sleepy, but I suppose it could be. Other than that, I'm not seeing any other ill affects. I took the day off as well.

that I opted to register with the county's health department. So instead of checking each pharmacy multiple times a day ad nauseum, I will get an email and text to set an appointment, with 48 hours to do so. Much easier on the nerves.

Only FLDL or FLID, and insurance card if you have one. I was able to get it for my job, but they asked for nothing. They are all part of teh Federal Program so I think they are ignoring what DeSatan says.

You will get a shot if you even remotely meet criteria. No DeSatan red tape. The pharmacies seem to be doing the same as they now fall under Biden Administration guidelines. The FEMA sites reportedly have plenty of doses.

For three days I was on right at 7, on my phone and two laptops, and my GF was on her laptop. I FINALLY got in. I had to drive about 25 miles to another county, really far west, but I was fine with that.

I literally burst into tears when I got the confirmation email.

Had my script since I am under 65.

The site is being run by the 101st airborne out of Kentucky!

200-300 hundred folks in front of me but I was out in 50 minutes including the 15 minute observation time.

No side effects. I was given Pfizer. The first 500 each day are J&J but they were gone by 10:00am.
