Refused to confirm him.
Now Merrick can investigate his wife, the fact he won so big in Democratic areas.
That, my friend is Karma!

(28,426 posts)the actions that Trump and those in his administration were engaged in.
Justice will be dead IMO if he makes the same mistake that was made not to at least investigate what Bush and those in his administration did after Obama was sworn in.

(11,140 posts)The SCOTUS is compromised and partisan and no longer respected due to McConnell's theft of Garland's seat. NOTHING short of rebalancing the court or impeaching Gorusch and installing Garland will erase that and even such an insanely drastic correction won't help now. Mitch fucked us all and in return, Garland is the most aggrieved party in the Unites States as a result.
Congrats to Merrick for his aptitude, integrity and equanimity under duress that would have snapped me long, long ago. He should be an outstanding AG for us all and return the DoJ to its rightful mission instead of servile obedience to the Chief Executive only.

He was against Neera Tanden though, because he felt Tanden was biased against Republicans.

I'm so relieved that Garland's confirmation has finally come to pass, but the Qthugs in the Senate are evil shits for obstructing this appointment after all of the injury done to him for SCOTUS.
But he needs the Deputy Atty General confirmed to I think, as well as the other Deputy Assistant I think is the correct title.
They're both Women and apparently very experienced in the Justice Dept.

(12,207 posts)I'm very pleased with the President's selection, and even pleased that the GOP showed good sense and gave at least a tepid upvote. To have voted him down after what they put him through would have been a hard sell to the public.
