(15,182 posts)And I don't open my eyes every morning dreading what the POTUS has done to make a mess.
Joe Biden is a good man.

(50,569 posts)The general to President Bidens right is Air Force general Jacqueline Van Ovost, new commander of US Transportation Command. She is current commander of Air Force Air Mobility Command. She has flown the C-141 and C-17, and is a graduate of Test Pilot School.
The general between the civilian leadership is Lt. General Laura Richardson, new commander of US Southern Command. She is current commander of US Army North. She has served as a division deputy commander, and as deputy commander of Forces Command. How she got the FORSCOM job is kinda wild: the FORSCOM commanding general was replacing the old DCO, and was brought a list of several generals. General Abrams had never met General Richardson, but pointed at her name and said her. I know her reputation. She is the right leader at the right time. An aside: her husband is also a Lieutenant General, and was a battalion commander at the same time she was. This probably made phone calls to their house fun: May I speak to Colonel Richardson? Which one? The new general is a Black Hawk helicopter pilot, and was on Vice President Gores staff. She commanded a battalion in Iraq, and worked at International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan.

(11,572 posts)It reminds me of a question Justin Trudeau was asked after his surprising win in 2015.
"Why have you chosen women to be half of your Cabinet?"
"Because it's 2015."
