The time when it was down after that orange pustule was installed....OMG, it was awful.
Glad to be here, even when I argue with people!
I'd quit American politics after the 2004 election, so depressing. Within two days.... election tampering???
Searching led me here and it's been my daily go-to ever since. Great people here.

(8,291 posts)for leading me here. He mentioned it on his show way back when and I thought, hmmm, I should google that.
Been here ever since and stopped watching O'reilly soon after.
(Disclaimer: I didn't realize I was a liberal until I agreed with most everything on this site. Thanks for showing me the way).

(4,443 posts)I was just on here a hundred times a day and night lol. Kudos to all involved in keeping the site up and running, except for that one unfortunate time it was hacked during the election. We're lucky. From my recollection, that was the only time, aside from maintenance. My current sanity is due to skinner, earl g and company over the years. Thank you so, so much.

(14,077 posts)and in March 2003, I signed up in my first incarnation. DU has always been fun and informative. If Im not mistaken, there used to be a lot more flame wars here. So that aspect has gotten much better.

(22,913 posts)It seemed like at least half of the people on it did so through AOL accounts back then, and Amazon was mostly thought of as a river. So much else has come and gone, but DU remains the top news source on the internet in my opinion. We have thousands of members searching every corner of the web for important and/or useful information to share. We get fresh perspectives from really thoughtful people, often we do effective political organizing. We get breaking first hand news accounts. And then, on top of all that, we get an amazing and enduring community. I am so grateful to everyone who makes DU work, starting with, but not limited to, the core of Administrators who started DU and have kept it alive and vibrant.
