(17,504 posts)The relationship between the President and the Attorney General is a special one in our government - and one that that was seriously screwed over by IQ45, The Keebler Elf, and BarrBarrHut.
The excitement of two honorable and honest men taking offices that they understand and respect is indeed reason for excitement!

(17,504 posts)I have to 'blame' or 'give credit to' my own brain for not remembering that guy. I truly believe it was a "this-shit-can't-be-happening" moment for my brain and thus 'flushed it away!"
So, I 'googled' "Deep Toilet Guy" and here's what I found:

Yes, oh YES INDEED - ONLY THE BEST!

(3,173 posts)Spent a short while working for Trump, screwed with the Congress, laughed like the little wanker he is, and left when Bill Fatman Barr accepted the call to be Trumps personal attorney and showed a willingness to lie and deflect his way through his confirmation hearing.
Whitaker can go back to chasing ambulances and designing shitters, but I am hoping that Barr gets fingered for something, anything, just to be able to see him subpoenaed and tried. Whitaker is too stupid to do much damage. Barr is an extremely intelligent, experienced attorney who deliberately set about undermining the constitution and solidifying Trumps hold on power. Hes a traitor in everything but name.

(67,782 posts)....briefcases? I don't think I've ever seen a lawyer with a new, spiffy briefcase!
TygrBright
(21,340 posts)By the time they graduate there is no need to "issue" a beat up old briefcase... what was once new and spiffy has acquired "experience" and battle scars.

(67,782 posts)....to school, we prided ourselves with attache cases, we all had one (along with a slide rule, I said MANY years ago) By the time we graduated they were scuffed and beat up.
I guess it's the same thing with law school students.

but I'm imagining having the same feeling as if I were finally walking out of the house for the first time after the hurricane/tornado has passed - seeing blue skies and sunshine (but still facing the surrounding destruction - THANKS, TRUMP!

(13,776 posts)If we feel relieved... imagine how the people who stuck it out in that poisoned well for four years must feel.
Its so wonderful to be able to trust our president and his appointees instead of knowing that they were brought in *specifically* to do as much harm as possible.

(73 posts)You can tell Garland is a genuinely good person and smart. Exactly what we need. Anyone notice how many secret service agents swarming around him? Is that normal? Wonder if they receive a lot of threats in that position and/or if he needs more protection because of chumpys cult members. Glad he is well protected. We all feel like the DOJ folks seeing him arrive.
GopherGal
(2,871 posts)We know Fauci's got beefed up security after getting threats, but I was a little surprised to see this much security for Garland. Looking it up, he is 7th in line for the presidency, so I guess it makes sense that there's some security.
And I was appreciating the elbow-bumps.

I can't imagine what hell it was for four years of Trump, no matter what department one worked in. Had to be absolutely demoralizing to have a president who actively and visibly worked against every arm and component of government, and who appointed people to lead departments who hated those departments with every drop of blood in their black, incompetent hearts.
