Itd be fun to watch, if not for all the innocent bystanders that would be impacted.

(3,406 posts)Talking heads posited that the Democrats, with 60 Senate seats AND the White House were destined to enjoy a permanent majority.
Dems took their eye off of the ball. The GOP rebounded in 2010 (especially in state legislatures through PROJECT RED MAP), and re-drew congressional districts to strengthen the power of their minority.
Republicans have deep pockets, a very loud media megaphone, a total lack of shame, and a large serving of corrupt intent. Add the dog whistles of racism and anti-semitism and history tells us that they are far from dead.

(10,495 posts)the propaganda and our campaign finance system. They can lie through their TW media outlets to manipulate their ignorant base and corporations will keep giving buckets of money to them to do their bidding. These root causes are killing our country!

(9,235 posts)There's a big price to pay, leaving the inner circles of the GOP.
PatSeg
(47,399 posts)but not as high a price as losing your soul. For many of these former republicans, I think there is no going back.

the approximately 127 republics that supported the Jan 6 insurrection and THE BIG LIE.
I think it's cute that the term "THE BIG LIE" has entered a prominent place in current American vernacular. It's a subconscious tribute to Josef Goebbels and one of his well crafted and extremely effective Nazi propaganda tools.

(6,829 posts)I'm conflicted because when they go low, we're supposed to go high. But sometimes I just can't resist stooping to their level when ever they use "Democrat party" as a slur. Which, some people say, was invented by the recently departed big fat idiot.
Lastly after Keith Olbermann played a clip of GWB early in this century, I remember Keith said; "....and the term is DEM-O-CRAT-IC. Show some respect"

(47,399 posts)There should be more. I remember awhile back when Congressman Emanuel Cleaver set a republican straight very effectively. He explained that it was bad grammar and sounded ignorant.
What really bothers me is that it doesn't really make Democrats sound bad as much as it makes republicans sound poorly educated. It is such an inexcusable abuse of the English language, especially coming from highly educated people. The fact that they would allow tacky spin-doctors tell them to mispronounce a word for political purposes is pathetic.

(47,399 posts)every time they hear it. Republicans can't use ignorance as an excuse, because they know better and still do it. Guess that sums up a whole lot about republicans, doesn't it?

(7,886 posts)It came into more recent usage when Rush and other RW blowhards revived it in the 90's. It has been passed around since by many RW pundits and wannabe pols. Its use also denotes the immaturity and ungrammatical anti-intellectual nature of those who live by the insult and the lie.
Its usage denotes the discomfort of those who feel "Democratic Party" reminds voters and citizens where it is we live and who fights for them. An unfair advantage in their view.

(14,853 posts)I'm convinced that they'll try to go "full fascist" if and when their propaganda of lies and voter suppression doesn't work anymore.
Some of my former Trump-cult coworkers were already embracing the killing of democracy in this country, last year when I was exposed to those jerks. So even those yahoos were already sensing the need to kill our democracy to help get their right-wing authoritarian way.

(1,192 posts)We need to pull out all the stops. The Q culture is being promoted by rotten republicans.
The continuing competence and accomplishments by Democrats has to be yelled from the rooftops. Government of, by and for the people is back.
Next step HR1.

(81,211 posts)Election reform. What with multiple states (was it 43?) trying to impose new voter restrictions, its an absolute MUST.
And do it NOW while hes on a roll! Got great public opinion numbers and America largely seems to love how Bidens handled COVID-19. Good that theyre heading out on the road to sell the new package. Its popular, full of popular and much-needed practical ideas to help people through this many-headed nightmare. It oughta be an easy sell to people already favorably predisposed OR starting to get there. This law is actually gonna help people. Real help. To real people in very real, very genuine need! Strike again while the irons hot!
And were demonstrating and reinforcing whos stepping up to help: the DEMOCRATS.
Not the other guys.
Republicans dont want to help you.
