Sen. Tim Scott Slams Biden For Not Hailing ‘Genius’ of Trump Covid Response: ‘The Vitriol of the Public Forum Leaves No Room For Civility’

By Sarah RumpfMar 12th, 2021, 12:23 pm

Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) slammed President Joe Biden for giving what he viewed as insufficient credit to former President Donald Trump’s “genius” response to the coronavirus pandemic.

America’s Newsroom anchor Bill Hemmer mentioned a line from Biden’s speech to Scott and asked for his reaction.

“Here is the line that stuck out to me last night: He said we were hit with a virus that was met with silence and spread unchecked,” said Hemmer. “Denials for days, weeks, then months. He wasn’t talking about Wuhan, wasn’t talking about Beijing. He was talking about the Trump White House and Operation Warp Speed. What did you think of that, Senator?”

“Unbelievable, to be honest with you,” replied Scott. “Let’s take a look back at 2020. It was NBC News that said they had to fact check President Trump who said we would have a vaccine within a year. They said it would take a miracle. What did President Trump produce? A miracle.”

Scott credited Operation Warp Speed with providing more than a million doses of the vaccine per day when Biden’s term began, and criticized his goal of 100 million doses in the first 100 days as “underwhelming.”

the truth ( that means stating real facts, not "alternative facts" ) is somehow "vitriol" just because the truth is painful.

The definition of "vitriol" is "harsh, bitter or painful language". But, just like telling the truth about someone is not slander, neither is it vitriol.

Finally, there is just damn little that can be truthfully said about "he who shall not be named" that would not be "harsh, bitter AND painful".

vaccine would be done in a year, and nobody would have said it would 'take a miracle' to have a vaccine in a year.

Not only was early 2021 the consensus all along, but there's no way to 'fact check' something that's theoretically happening a year the friggin' future.

"Genius" response, give me a friggin break. He purposefully downplayed it, he admitted it.

And the first approved vaccine was done completely without 'Operation Warp Speed' involvement in any way.

This guy is full of shit, just like all these lying wingnut assholes.

I hate them all.

...to just plain gaslighting about civility now that Donald Trump is off Twitter and out of the White House.

First of all, attributing the creation of the vaccines to Trump is ridiculous. A lot of the groundwork had been laid before Operation Warp Speed, and multiple entities and nations are responsible for the vaccines accepted for use in the United States.

I should add that Trump, both in his budget policies and his rhetoric, was never a friend of science or research. As for the business about civility, there's a reason Anthony Fauci has to have a security detail just to talk walk outside.

Here's a general briefing on the vaccines:

A "bleeping" 2 year old could conclude; "hey, we need a vaccine right away"

We're supposed to treat this ignorant fucksticks like a genius because he proposed doing something a fucking imbecile would propose doing.

It would be like the Captain of the Titanic being praised because he said we need more lifeboats.

It would be like saying we should quickly get ice water to hell and having every fucking person there going; "holy fuck...why didn't I think of that".

Not to mention that the main reason over 500K of or fellow Americans are fucking dead is because if his incompetence, ignorance and corruption.

Fuck him and the apocalyptic horse he road in on.
