It seems that many could use a refresher class. In general, keep your HANDS OFF other people at work, unless they request assistance.
What is sexual harassment?
Sexual harassment includes unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical harassment of a sexual nature in the workplace or learning environment, according to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). Sexual harassment does not always have to be specifically about sexual behavior or directed at a specific person. For example, negative comments about women as a group may be a form of sexual harassment.
Although sexual harassment laws do not usually cover teasing or offhand comments, these behaviors can also be upsetting and have a negative emotional effect.
What does sexual harassment look like?
Sexual harassment can occur in a variety of circumstances. The harasser can identify with any gender and have any relationship to the victim, including being a direct manager, indirect supervisor, coworker, teacher, peer, or colleague.
Some forms of sexual harassment include:
Making conditions of employment or advancement dependent on sexual favors, either explicitly or implicitly.
Physical acts of sexual assault.
Requests for sexual favors.
Verbal harassment of a sexual nature, including jokes referring to sexual acts or sexual orientation.
Unwanted touching or physical contact.
Unwelcome sexual advances.
Discussing sexual relations/stories/fantasies at work, school, or in other inappropriate places.
Feeling pressured to engage with someone sexually.
Exposing oneself or performing sexual acts on oneself.
Unwanted sexually explicit photos, emails, or text messages.
Penetration of the victims body, also known as rape.
Attempted rape.
Forcing a victim to perform sexual acts, such as oral sex or penetration of the perpetrators body.
Fondling or unwanted sexual touching.

(1,652 posts)It is unlawful to harass a person (an applicant or employee) because of that person's sex. Harassment can include "sexual harassment" or unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical harassment of a sexual nature.
Harassment does not have to be of a sexual nature, however, and can include offensive remarks about a person's sex. For example, it is illegal to harass a woman by making offensive comments about women in general.
Both victim and the harasser can be either a woman or a man, and the victim and harasser can be the same sex.
Although the law doesn't prohibit simple teasing, offhand comments, or isolated incidents that are not very serious, harassment is illegal when it is so frequent or severe that it creates a hostile or offensive work environment or when it results in an adverse employment decision (such as the victim being fired or demoted).
The harasser can be the victim's supervisor, a supervisor in another area, a co-worker, or someone who is not an employee of the employer, such as a client or customer.

(4,575 posts)So far I only recall one woman moving his hand. This is an attack on Cuomo. I'll wait for the results of the investigation. In the meantime you know who is a sexual harasser and rapist? Donald Trump, that's who. Let's do something about that.

(108,977 posts)Putting aside the photo at the wedding, which doesn't involve a staffer, in a professional or business situation, workers and their bosses need to keep their hands off each other, unless permission is given.
The default is NOT TOUCHING. It's not up to any of these women to enforce what should be the default, but too often isn't.
Here's a reporter who said he behaved inappropriately with her for years. And he knew how she felt. Look what he said at the end.
And before you claim that SHE should have stood up for herself, remind yourself that if she complained, this statehouse reporter might have been prevented from doing her job -- covering Cuomo.

I was wrong to believe this experience would last for just a moment. Keeping his grip on me as I practically squirmed to get away from him, the governor turned my body to face a different direction for yet another picture. He never let go of my hand, she continued. "Then he turned to me with a mischievous smile on his face, in front of all of my colleagues, and said: Im sorry. Am I making you uncomfortable? I thought we were going steady.
