POTUS specifically said that making every adult eligible does not mean they will be vaccinated by May 1, just to cut this bad faith shit off at the knees.

I've read that could take anywhere from two to six weeks so that means that even if people take the vaccination by May 1 and then take a second dose a few weeks later, then they may not be protected until July 4.

BTW, Cornyn is an idiot.

for everyone to be vaccinated. Merely being eligible is almost meaningless.

Given that 2 of the 3 currently approved vaccines require two doses, depending on how many get the one dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine, we're looking at 500 million doses at a minimum to vaccinate all those who actually want the vaccine.

Personally, I'm more than irritated that I have not heard from my own state (NM) department of health that I've come to the top of the list for a vaccine. And this is a state that supposedly is doing a good job of distributing the vaccine. Apparently a 72 year old who had a serious heart attack in December is well under the top 26% of people in this state getting the vaccine.

Well, okay, I've actually gotten a couple of communications from the department of health. The first was about a week ago, a very sternly worded message that I should not even consider trying to get a vaccine outside of them. The second, today, was a message telling me that if I had gotten an appointment outside of their system, and I was registered with them, to please let them know, so they could take me off the list.

It will be quite interesting to see what percentage of people here will have been vaccinated by the time it is my turn. I'm going to guess at least 50%, and some time in May.
