Over 105 million total. 4.6 M today. 7 day average up to 2.5M a day. 20.9% of the adult population in the US has gotten at least 1 dose of the vaccine.
Biden is going to beat all expectations on this.

(7,809 posts)...I'm patiently waiting in queue, expecting a message soon (64 in CA), signed up in January with a couple of websites.
For my husband 85, I went through the state health website and got his appointments. For myself (60) and 10 friends over 55 I went directly to CVS, Walgreens, Kroger-Frys Foods, Albertsons - Safeway websites. I had to continually check them and got everyone an appointment within 2 hrs to 1.5 days. The appointments were all within a week to 10 days.
The private locations worked great for me.

(7,615 posts)The health departments are a little behind. All the people I know that were eligible have managed to get appointments via CVS, rite-aid, Walgreens much easier. All of them were on these department of health lists and never got a call or email.

(9,256 posts)Part of the county (PA) vaccination program for school district employees. We made the news as they are doing 10k in 6 days. Feel fine so far, a little more tired than usual.

(10,128 posts)when they suddenly decided - like, with less than 2 days notice - to cancel the 2nd appointments of everyone with Kaiser and told them to find some other source. Kaiser is madly trying to cope with the 10,000 people dumped on them and get them prioritized. Luckily, I was able to get my 2nd shot this morning and my husband is scheduled for Monday. And yes, I still annoyed with the county and have been complaining about the abrupt decision to anyone who'll listen.

Maybe someone there doesn't like me.

(25,811 posts)I cannot fathom why I have not gotten to the top of the list. I have gotten a sternly worded email from them telling me NOT to bypass them.
Sometimes I wonder if some of the numbers about numbers of shots given are somewhat imaginary.

(7,615 posts)I am driving my wife to her 2nd shot tomorrow. I am getting my first shot next thursday. Found out that I was eligible because of a specific medical condition I have.

(33,457 posts)...and one of the nurses said, since old people like us know what this is, "those of you who are fully vaccinated should form a 'Conga line.'"
It's Moderna #2 for me. Like Moderna #1, I feel a little fatigued, and a little dopey, but I did manage to give my artist son a lecture on viral glycan structure and disabuse him of the widely circulating belief that this virus was engineered in a lab.
(It wasn't.)

I've been looking for one for my brother for weeks and then went to the site the other day and they had a full week of vaccines open almost every hour I was able to schedule him and his girlfriend for Tuesday finally don't give up.

(7,263 posts)I've tried CVS, Rite Aid, Giant Eagle, AHN, UPMC, independent pharmacies, blahblahblah
Stayed up all night several times to keep refreshing the sites. Nada.
I see that the Philly area is a different 'region' then the rest of the State - not updated on the State Map (Horrible btw). I wonder if those folks are having better luck then the rest of the State.
Allegheny County has opened up a 2 sites, but from my understanding, only allow 65+, not 1a people like myself who have underlying conditions but are not yet 65. Even if you are within shouting distance of 65, like me, they will turn you away. But these sights fill up very fast too.
PA did ok up until the rollout - which has been HORRIBLE. I'll give Gov Wolfe an F- on this part - he fell down on the job imo.

(3,836 posts)Pfizer...it was very organized and easy - I get my second shot in April. Yippee
It was really great to see so many people wearing masks while waiting for a shot and the line moved quickly. We've had adults in charge here for a few years now and events like voting and getting our shots run smoothly.
New Mexico rocks!!

(25,811 posts)haven't heard a thing from the health department. Just an email telling me not to go around them to get a vaccine.

(3,836 posts)A friend called me and told me about Vida Pharmacy, who was making appointments for shots. I called them and they wanted my code number, which I never received, but they told me about a link to the DOH where I could ask for a resend, which I did and they sent it to me right away and i was in.
You need your code. If I were you I would call that pharmacy and if they are done, I would call any other pharmacy. I think Smith's has the vaccine too. But you have to have your DOH code number.
If we can message privately, Ill give you the number. They told me my second shot would not be with them, so I think it is a one time deal.
Im like you.. I registered in January, but only got a receipt of my registration with no code.. So I feel very lucky indeed

(25,811 posts)Apparently I am the only person out there playing by the rules, waiting for the DOH to contact me to tell me I can get a shot.
Oh, and how will you schedule your second vaccine?
I'm rather hoping that by the time I get mine, it will the the Johnson & Johnson. I am not someone at all nervous about shots, so that's not the issue. But one and done would be nice.
Oh, I just looked at the Vida pharmacy website. It says the clinic for March 13, today, was by invite only. I'd have to check back on Tuesday for the next one. But honestly, I don't feel like driving to Albuquerque. I'm doing cardiac rehab three days a week now, into the first week of April. And I have some doctor appointments on the other days.
It's not that hard for me to mostly stay home, although I do need to schedule dental work. Which I really hate but I'm having a crisis with my teeth.
solara
(3,836 posts)You are not the only person playing by the rules. I was able to schedule my shot because I am in tier one.. and I fit the criteria and I have the DOH code, which I used. They wouldn't have given me an appointment otherwise. I sure as hell didn't push my way in and take the place of a person on 'the list' because I, myself, was on the list. They looked me up when I called them.
When I got my shot, I received a card from the Dept of Health that gave me the date of my second vaccination and they will contact me and let me know where to go to receive it.
Good luck with your teeth.

If you want a vaccine and arent in a priority group, consider signing up for unused/leftover vaccines at https://hidrb.com/signup.

(32,775 posts)500,000 + people are dead. And these silly assholes in the media underestimate the level of hope there is for the vaccine to be a game changer. The petty stories are nerve grinding in light of what is happening on this front.

(51,504 posts)The state is opening up eligibility to 4 million more people, ages 16 - 64, who have underlying conditions that make contracting Covid-19 potentially life threatening.
Every healthcare worker and person over 65 I know here in California has been vaccinated.

(4,219 posts)The last week of March California will get around 1.8 million.
California got around 50,000 J&J last week, besides the Pfizer and Moderna. They won't get any more J&J till April 1st... And then lots and lots of it.
But from April 1st and onward, more and more Pfizer and Moderna and J&J doses.
California can do 3 million doses a day right now if they had the stuff and want to be able to do 4 million a day.

(54,269 posts)Here in Germany, they value rules over people. They have even made it illegal in some areas to give leftover vaccine to people who want it. If appointments are not kept or there is a surplus, the vaccine must be thrown away.
Less than 10% of the country has been vaccinated at all, one of the lowest rates in Europe, and I still have to travel extensively for my work. My wife and I will be 69 this year, and the local health department told us that if we were lucky, we might have a chance for May, but more likely we were looking at August.
