So DeSantis signs an order allowing people over 60 to get the vaccine,

and I find out a week later. How is that possible when we watch local news every night? If i hadn't popped into the Florida group this morning on DU, I might not have known at all.

I'm posting this in GD to advise other Florida DUers.

We're in older groups and so haven't been watching for and didn't miss it, but thanks for the needed deed.

Important information gets filtered down slowly. It keeps the "small government" style of governance relevant, I guess. I mean, if we could all get our news at the same time, why would we need all the networks that keep the backwater channels alive?

The Orlando Sentinel reported the age group as 65 and over in an article dated March 11th. De Santis signed the document on March 8th.

Where to get the COVID-19 vaccine in Central Florida: The COVID-19 vaccines are starting to roll out, but it will be a few months before they become widely available. Florida is in the first phase of vaccination, which includes high-risk hospital workers, nursing home residents and staff, EMTs and paramedics and adults 65 and older.

Print media, online media, TV local news. My FL State Rep even sent out a text blast about it.

My husband signed up with Walmart for them to contact him and sched. his appt. We'll see what happens, but they were taking walk-ins because their system is deleting the appt. info, so hope he gets his first dose this week. I'm sched with Walmart Grocery Store, and they are supposed to call me Mon. but I'll be shocked if they do. I'll call Tues. am if no call Monday and see when I can get the 2nd dose - need it next week. Hopefully I can get it somewhere, then 2 weeks and I'm good and within 6 weeks hubby will be fully vaccinated as well. Whoohoo!

In late Jan. & early Feb. they were constantly running out and cancelling shots and their system was the WORST! After that happened to me twice, I gave up on them. Hopefully things are better and it's working for others now, but it was such a cluster F earlier they are now last on my list of places to call.
