(23,099 posts)It gives us these moments of beauty, given out of love and respect and it also plunges us to the depths, like on 1/6. People suck, my husband always says, but they are also capable of beauty, love and caring. Thanks for sharing an instance of the later.

(36,851 posts)Yo-Yo Ma is an exceptional musician, and an equally exceptional human being. I remember him going down to the border as part of his Bach Project:
It's the beautiful acts of caring, compassion and wonder (and, sometimes, just plain silliness... oh, and animal videos ) that has helped us get through the pandemic.

(18,402 posts)I honestly want to know from a cellist. I kind of know that closer to the bridge gives a brighter sound and closer to the fingerboard more mellow ... but up on the finger board? I always thought it was supposed to be between the two.
I am going to admit this: I adore YoYo Ma the human being. Ive never been much of a fan of his playing. His sound always seems nasal to me, and I always thought it might be the instrument. But maybe not. I know nothing.
