(19,066 posts)The weekends are when the most vaccine have been given, but they changed the count cutoff for Saturday and that resulted in a huge count Saturday and a small count Sunday. Still 6 million doses between the 2 days, outstanding!
107M doses now.
The number I am following is the % of the adult population given at least 1 dose, these people are no longer at risk for death from Covid. We hit 21% over the weekend. Considering another 30-40% of the country has immunity from having gotten Covid, we're over 50% with some immunity now. And the most vulnerable populations are more than 21% vaccinated now, for over 65 it's over 80%. Other risk groups are climbing fast too.
This is being done smartly. Everyone should buckle down and protect themselves and others right now, because several more weeks of this type of progress and we're going to pull out of this faster than most people realize.
