I think that she did a fine job of moderating.
But really, she seriously dropped the ball with how she framed that abortion question.
I think that Joe set her straight though by pointing out that his, or anyone else's, religious beliefs have no business setting government policy or the law.
Ryan, I noticed, jumped at the chance to portray himself as a religious zealot, basically reminding all women in this country about why it's a horrible idea to vote for right wing, fetus worshippers.

(29,035 posts)she hit all the talking points while ignoring our Constitution's protection against a state sanctioned religion and raising the medicare, social security "bankrupt" scare for the old folks, which would be an easy fix with a tax increase, expanding the medicare base and raising the cap on the payroll tax. Most of us are adults, let's talk about it!!

(25,406 posts)While I know that's her strong suit, most Americans (especially anyone who considers themselves undecided or swayable at this point) don't care that much about it, as long as we don't have more than one or two dozen body bags coming home every week from a volunteer military.
There is a worry about what Mideast violence will do to oil prices, but beyond that, the folks who make up their minds the weekend before the election just don't care about foreign affairs that much. I'd rather she have found something else to take up that time, like racial issues or the war on women.

(1,730 posts)and sent right over the plate for Biden. It was a golden opportunity for JB to say exactly what he did, and draw that line in the sand. It was a line that the Little Boy couldn't help himself from crossing. The Little Boy and his Master WILL feel completely comfortable dictating their religious beliefs onto everyone else - and the Little Boy said it himself.
THAT will be a Democratic ad running in swing states before Sunday.

(9,463 posts)I don't think the zygote has anything to do with it. It is all about teaching us silly wimmins that we are not able to make any decisions about our bodies, and need men to do that for us, just like every other decision we might need to make.

(14,881 posts)I think she framed the question deliberately that way. I think she called lured the Pipsqueak right out over the plate and gave Smokin' Joe the opportunity to hit one out of the ballpark. Which he seemed very happy to do.
The takeaway was so very clear.
Smokin' Joe: My personal beliefs are my personal beliefs and I'd never even think to impose them on you.
Pipsqueak: I'll protect Beans from BAD WYMMIN (the "easy rapes," not the "legitimate rapes"*)
*edited to add the kind the got drunk at a party, slept with a Pipsqueak, woke up the next morning and screamed "AAAAIAIAIAIA!!!!!!" and ran like hell to the doctor to take a pill to prevent any beans from forming!
