In his letter, McCarthy, however, argued that with 75 percent of the chamber vaccinated, the rate is high enough that the House should return to regular business, including opening the Capitol for tours and ending proxy voting, which allows members to cast without being present in Washington. Democrats, however, say more members need to be vaccinated.
McCarthy sent the letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., last week asking what her plan is to reopen the House and noting its time that we return to regular order.

"There's a strong desire to get back to a regular floor schedule here on the floor where we are conducting our business, we have the ability to interact with each other as colleagues, it is a much different experience than when people have to trickle in, trickle out," Scalise said.
Hoyer shot back, "It would be a lot simpler if every member had been vaccinated.

(25,063 posts)Kindly explain why you haven't received the vaccination.
Hey, McCarthy! Did you get your shots? If you did, whip your members into doing the right thing for once.

(19,382 posts)He better not get shots until his turn. Most states are 65 and above. Florida just started 60 and above. No way should McCarthy push his way to head of line. Thatd deserve criticism.

(33,424 posts)My recommendation to you is absolutely unequivocal: There is no reason why you should defer receiving this vaccine, Brian Monahan, the attending physician of Congress and the Supreme Court, wrote in a letter Thursday. The benefit far exceeds any small risk.
Monahan explained to members of Congress that they are among the first in line for the vaccine thanks to a National Security Council directive that gave lawmakers priority to make sure theres a continuity of government.

(19,382 posts)For vaccines. So many poor are not able to get the vaccine while the rich and powerful are. Not cool in my opinion.

and the vaccine production and its use should be a science, public health, and medical
issue not a political issue.

We vote - we win. We codify fair voting opportunity - we win big.

(4,128 posts)..until and unless the R's comply. They want regular order as then they can then be even more mischievous. Do not let them get any upper hand. As for tours, vet every tourist first for say 6 months.

(1,621 posts)Are dumbass Republicans, how many have issues that prevent/worry them about taking it, and how many are waiting on principle for others to get theirs first?
