I never do that because it's useless. But this really pissed me off.

I love cartoons and I am on several FB cartoon sites. I am on Far Side and Calvin and Hobbes and Opus and several others. I think Far Side gets the most idiotic comments which is weird since they were done years ago.

So here was a cartoon Larsen did years ago. And he has said his cartoons weren't political. He didn't even follow politics. They were just silly stuff.

So this guy comes on and makes a terrible comment about Biden. Right now it's all about how brain addled and dumb he is. And this had nothing to do with this cartoon.

So I replied "Why on earth would you think it's ok to post such a horrible, offensive reply?"

And off he went. It was perfectly ok because it is just the truth. Just watch him on any tv channel.". And other people started piling on.

I don't think it's possible to bridge this gap. At least at this point in time. It makes me kind of sad but once people form an opinion their mind just shuts off. It's true of both sides . I don't know how you get past it.

We have a lot iof macho gun people on our neighborhood site. Their answer to everything is to be armed at all times.

I didn't say a word. I just quoted the statistics on child and teenage deaths from guns. Between 2014 and 2018 15 000 childen under the age of 19 died. 13 000 were unintentional. Gunshot is the number 2 cause of death for children. It's the number one cause of death for high-school kids.

I run into RW'ers (not just US, global, with some of my fellow Brits being the hardest opponents overall, at least in my experiences) all the time in football (real football, not American football, which I detest, lol) chats, and it never ends well for them, ever.

I find casual, implied ridicule to be the best weapon, plus cold, clinical dissection of the logical fallacies they almost always employ. Most are thoroughly unintelligent trolls, often incels (so easy to put them off balance with clever indirect plays working off that weak point, which then sends them into absolute rages, and earns them a ban), who very rarely run into an academically trained debater, especially a female who takes no quarter like I do in those free-for-all environments.

I got out of that site because so many of their cartoons are off color or just in really bad taste. So many are horrible cartoons about elderly people. They just make fun of everything, of how their bodies are funny and their minds are gone. It's offensive to me so I just left.

Strangely, Bloom County is very political but most of the people there are funny and courteous. It may be that the people that enjoy Opus and his buddies are a mire educated bunch of people.

I've finally just started alerting on any political shit I see in there. Calling them out directly does no good, so I alert and scroll on by. Dunno when I got old or maybe just got tired of wasting my bandwidth, but if they are so far gone that a f*$&ing cartoon in a facebook group demands a slam on Biden, well, I feel sorry for them.

An old friend of mine would suggest when he got frustrated with a real asshole, "Go masturbate bitterly into a paper dixie cup." I've mentally adopted that saying.

Two nights ago I had a live one tell me he was worried about muslim terrorism. I told him those terrorists I saw pouring into the capitol weren't muslims. Then he asks me why I wasn't concerned about Biden allowing illegals to pour across the border. I asked him how did he know that Biden was doing that and his answer was the Governor of Texas said so, adding that it would never be fixed until the wall was finished. At this juncture I ended the conversation telling him we can just agree to disagree. There was no point to continue conversing with him. These people are bone stupid and there is no way to fix them.
