Texas Family Says Father's Participation In Deadly Capitol Riot Has Torn Family Apart

During Testimony In DC, Texas Family Says Father’s Participation In Deadly Capitol Riot Has Torn Family Apart

By CBSDFW.com Staff
March 16, 2021

NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM/CNN) – During a hearing in Washington about how politics — and the Capitol riot — has divided American families, a 16-year-old North Texas girl testified against her father.

“My heart is broken. I see people in your family suffering. I see an American family suffering,” Magistrate Judge Zia Faruqui said.

During the almost two-hour hearing, the daughter’s testimony about her father, Guy Reffitt, a Texas Three Percenter from Wylie, became one of the most searing examples of how close family and friends have aided investigators with the dragnet following the insurrection. The daughter said she didn’t believe her father was dangerous if he were to be released, but thought he had tried to intimidate her and her brother after January 6 as he had discussed keeping his participation quiet.

Reffitt’s son, Jackson Reffitt, turned in his father to the FBI. The son has since left the family’s home, essentially disappearing and living in what the Justice Department calls an undisclosed location. His sister said in court on Monday that her father and brother had long had a strained relationship because of political tension.

This garbage is a cult that has spread online, not just in a specific community. Turning in friends and close family has to be seen as a last ditch effort to get them to snap out of it and rejoin the real world. It's not likely to work on all of them.

I feel especially sorry for kids who are being dragged along by cult member parents, just like I've felt sorry for those raised in wingnut religions.

The whole sick Q campaign has been sophisticated enough that I hope it's caught the attention of Biden's national security people. It has to be tracked down and the perps have to be cut off and if Zuckerberg won't do it, then the plug has to be pulled on FB.

Cut people off from being spoon fed this garbage, many of them will just sort of drift off and fizzle out, although they won't admit it to anyone else.

A democracy advocate in Myanmar might say "Keep this quiet, would you?"

All it says is that they realize what they're doing is opposed by others. The moral content depends on the situation.

Somehow, they did the right thing despite being raised by the sick fuck that is their father.

Somehow, the father was not successful in indoctrination and other means of brainwashing. His assholishness must have opened their eyes very early on in their lives.

Or some other astonishing reason they were able to see him for what he is, and stand up on behalf of our country rather than their own father.

That gives me a little measure of hope.

I'm sure the family is shocked, upset and thoroughly disappointed that the father was going to commit a felony.
They should be and he shouldn't be given any excuses until he faces the muscin in court.

that is their father that participated in terrorist act. Something tells me they were quite possibly severely abused throughout their lives.

And/Or....quite possibly present/overheard/witnessed planning of much more severe terrorists plots than was pulled off on Jan 6th.

Bravo to them for reporting and testifying.

they witnessed his behavior and attitudes, might have been victimized by some aspects of his abusive sick behavior. Probably not completely shocked. Maybe surprised a bit as it unfolded on tv, and seeing the graphics of the brutality unfolding.

That might have been shocking. Those who are brought up abused, are not really shocked their abuser would do something like that.

I think there are many of these "domestic tyrant bullies" among the Trumper crowd.

It is... unnatural. Trump somehow manages to get people to stop caring about what we naturally care about-- our families, our neighbors-- and transfer all that devotion to him.

Families all over the country are learning that this person they love and used to love them no longer cares about them.
There's no room in a Trumper heart for loving anyone but Trump.

Assholes like this are all over the place and have zero intent of backing off.

The son is correct to get as much distance as possible.
