(70,501 posts)For Trump to win he has to cheat. Fox News and a large % of Republicans know this too.

(5,459 posts)NOT THE RUBES.
The rubes think the Russia story is a "hoax".
Plus they LOVE the out-and-out racism.

(70,501 posts)They gave Russian talking points many times even in Trump's 1st impeachment
in both the house and senate, 8 of them went to Moscow on July 4, 2018*, and
the QAnon crap is in a large part the result of Russian disinformation projects.

(81 posts)I seem to remember seeing some indication from our intelligence services that there appeared to be attempted russian interference before the election. Sadly, that same report seems to indicate Iran also attempted to interfere, attempting to thwart Russia. And the RWNJs are going to run with that (if they haven't started to already).

(6,857 posts)that Antifa members disguised themselves as Trumpists and attacked the Capitol to overturn an election which their side won. At lease, not seriously.

(111,089 posts)...there may have been a few "antifa" in the mob? We don't know.
However, judging from all the Trump paraphernalia, it's a good bet the big majority of them were following Donald J Trump.

(111,089 posts)...then that would mean that the Republican Senators were used by the Russians as "propaganda conduits", who chose to propagate the information furnished to them by the Russians.
The purpose of the "propaganda" was to divide and create confusion and chaos.
It's easy to remember the six or eight Republican Senators that went to Moscow on a "good will" tour. This was early in the Trump Administration, as best I can recall?
Guiliani was a primary source for the Republican Senators. He was ordered to meet with them.
Nobody wants to admit to being used as a "stool pigeon". It is understandable.
Reportedly, this document was created during the Trump Administration and they did not truthfully inform the American people about it. This is NOT some sort of Democratic Party document.
The ODNI has decided to make it public, it appears?
People can do with it what they will.

(7,812 posts)the full story and opt to keep it secret because of the enormous damage it would do to perception of the US domestically and around the world? Or are the connections truly that opaque (doubt it)? Or is the time in the barrel coming for NRA (laundered foreign money for Trump campaign), GOP, RNC, McConnell, Giuliani, Johnson, Rohrbacher, Lindsay, and more?
Does this at least partially explain the mystifying and intensely partisan gop behavior wrt defense of Trump, Russia...because the entire gop and 40 years of investment in polarization, hate, media consolidation, think tanks, and propaganda is at risk?
