Since When is; "Removing Temptation" a Legal Defense for Anything?

I don't get the Atlanta hate mass-killer using it. So I thought I would try some thought experiments:

When I see a traffic light turn red, I'm tempted to remove it by shooting it? Tempted millions of times? Er....no....never once.

When that tasty dessert in the bakery window, temps me I garnish it by pumping some lead bullets into it to remove the temptation to eat it? Nope!

Then when then the 33 degrees beer in my fridge fills me with overwhelming desire, I take it out back to use as target practice with my neighbors in the yard behind it? Of course not, I invite them over for a few.

The only, safe thought experiment I had was when I actually "fired up" the Indicia tempting me.

The guy killed 8 humans, 75% who where of Asian descent, and the cops say he did it to "remove temptation"?

To blame it on anything else than pure racism, is as evil and insane as it is stupid.

Your post reminds me of the officer saying "He had a bad day" like we don't all have bad days, yet don't go on killing sprees.

I didn't read it, or anything else which has commented on his parents' characteristics, so I cannot vouch for that.

But perverse religiosity about sexual stuff could provide an explanation/motive -- overlapping the racial one as evidenced by witness accounts of his statements -- in which that language would apply (in the mind of the speaker, however immoral and illogical it seems to me).

Reminds of the sex crimes actually committed against innocent children by so-called "pious Catholic priests" and the murder of Sister Cathy in Baltimore years ago. Pure evil.

4. When I want to remove temptation? I buy something I'm not supposed to eat like cupcakes. I eat one

throw out the rest so I am not tempted to eat all 6 cupcakes in the package. I don't go on killing spree at the bakery or store because they are tempting me with cupcakes and I can't stop eating cupcakes.

The framing behind this has been so fucked up. He's a murderer. Nothing else should be said right now. The victims left behind loved ones who are hurting. I don't care about your addiction, I don't care you were having a "bad day"
I have a bad day, I buy a new purse, eat another cupcake, call a friend, watch a funny movie. There are so many things you can do when you are having a bad day besides going on a killing spree.

why this kid did this, but trying to ascertain someone else's motives by what you would do in the same situation almost never gets you to the truth. In the first place, people who do this kind of stuff rarely think like you and me.
