Mostly men some women, Republicans, support violence against women.
Way past time to break the chain.
Time for the fools and tools in our house and senate to understand a woman is far more worthy of their support than guns. Guns kill people, women bear our children, our future.
Dance to stop the screams.
We are beautiful, beautiful creatures.

(46,058 posts)Who would vote against a violence against women act? It's like they are against anything that is decent.

(97,634 posts)They all hate women. They have made that PERFECTLY CLEAR.
They don't even care about the 1/2 million plus that have died in the pandemic. Believe them when they tell you who they are.

(90,021 posts)Put them on severe double-secret-probation absolute-torch-'n'-twang defense.
MAKE 'EM have to explain it and justify it and try to talk themselves out of trouble.
And then do it AGAIN.
And AGAIN.
And remind-Remind-REMIND: that Republicans don't want to help you. Especially if you're a woman.
They certainly proved it here! Made it abundantly clear!
And if you can, help one of their opponents with his or her campaign! Best thing we can do is get RID of these assholes. Take their power away. And replace them with lightyears-better Democratic candidates.

Look, I'm flexible, either we get rid of guns or we get rid of men but it's pretty obvious that we can't have both.

(14,782 posts)"Break the Chain" aims to raise awareness around the world about V-Day's fastest escalating global campaign to date, ONE BILLION RISING. The ONE BILLION RISING campaign began as a call to action based on the staggering statistic that 1 in 3 women on the planet will be beaten or raped during her lifetime. With the world population at 7 billion, this adds up to more than ONE BILLION WOMEN AND GIRLS. On 14 February 2013, V-Day's 15th anniversary, activists, writers, thinkers, celebrities and women and men across the world will come together to express their outrage, strike, dance, and RISE in defiance of the injustices women suffer, demanding an end at last to violence against women.

(295 posts)...are my trans sisters. The hate against us is even more furious. "Men" who want to be "Women" is unthinkable, so when they catch us in "The Big Lie" or "The Big Reveal" - even though we're just trying to find a place in the world (ya know, intangible things like acceptance, trust, life, liberty justice, happiness, even love). We are part of 1 Billion Rising too, and know what's at stake. Please throw some weight behind supporting the Equality Act. What wonderful armor it will be.

(295 posts)on this. I've lived with shameful lies (mostly to myself) for survival's sake. Self-acceptance and declarations are one thing, but consequences are very real. There were a lot less of us then brave enough to shine a light. But with all the bright lights beginning to shine now, the dangers faced are no less a threat.

(55,160 posts)They love to hate. Their social media hates, their neighbors hate, their politicians hate, their family and coworkers hate, their news channels, even their religious leaders often hate. Hate hate hate. And they hate indiscriminately...women, politics, animals, minorities, laws, other religions, other countries, our country, etc. It doesn't matter. Their favorite verb is to hate.

(12,217 posts)I've commented on all of them, and my comment hasn't changed, because my take on it hasn't changed. I'm just gobsmacked that this is apparently OK with Republican women, at least judging by the lack of reaction.
What the hell is wrong with them? I KNOW what's wrong with the 172, but being ostensibly part of the same organization and not storming the ramparts of the Republican lawmakers that would perpetrate this?
I won't go so far as to say they deserve the violence, because no women deserve that. But godammit, there should be some kind of wake-up call.

(132,446 posts)over the world. Several of my favourites are the flash mob in SF, the one from Bhutan where the whole village is involved, and there is a message from the Queen of Bhutan, and the European Parliament with their umbrellas. They give me hope.
Sadly, I was not in the least surprised by the vote, which was why I specifically mentioned it in my post on male violence against women. The woman-haters in Congress do not even try to pretend. The fact that women can do something that they cannot, the womb-envy, truly twists them up. They think that the ability to destroy life makes them superior.
May they all rot, including the self-loathing women.

(12,328 posts)Everything matters. HR. 1 must be signed into law. 172 one-hundred seventy-two GOP reps voted against violence against women. The 172 people do not represent the gerrymandered citizens in their districts.
HR. 1 takes on gerrymandering and supports apportioning representatives to citizens equitably. Democracy is at stake.
On edit: loved the video! Made me hopeful.

(11,704 posts)are at the point where they no longer have to hide who and what they are. They no longer have to pretend to give a damn about women or voting rights.
The implications of their brazenness scares the shit out of me. If HR1 is sidelined again, I think they know that there will be no stopping them in 2022 or after.
