"SNIP.....
Reuters: Mexico will receive 2.5 million does of the vaccine and Canada will receive 1.5 million doses
The deal to share the vaccine, which is still being finalized, does not affect President Joe Bidens plans to have vaccine available for all adults in the United States by the end of May.

(118,011 posts)vaccine plants. So we've faced cutbacks or slowdowns in the vaccine we get - all from abroad. We've ordered well over 100 million doses for 38 milion people. Different corporations too. But it must all come in from abroad. We are quicly building a Novavax plant i think in Quebec and i think an mRNA plant in Alberta. But they will not be ready soon. Sad thing is the Conservatives got rid of Connaught Labs that invented insulin and worked on a number of vaccines in the 20th Century. It was a leader, world renouned but publicly owned so Conservatives got rid of it as Conservatives do. I imagine neoliberals hated that the patent holders of insulin gave it away to the world for free.
So our vaccination rate right now is much less than the US. Very frustrating. We have just started vaccinating seniors over 80. I would assume some of the vaccine we are getting from Biden is time specific so we agreed to use it now in exchange for the same amount of some vaccine returned to the US sometime in the near future. We still have over 100 million doses ordered. When we get all vaccinated in Canada we will donate our excess somewhere needed. But we are way behind you in vaccines right now. The lesson is to have your own vaccines production plants.
