Republican Logic

In pursuit of ensuring that future elections are free and fair, it is necessary to make it a criminal offence to give food or water to voters standing on line – because people who vote ‘illegally’ are notorious snackers who will stay home rather than risk their access to Pringles and Twinkies being cut off for hours at a time.

Limiting voting hours will lead to more secure elections – because people who cast ‘illegal’ ballots only show up when polls are open for longer hours.

Curtailing mail-in voting is a means of securing our elections – because too many ‘questionable people’ take advantage of this system, like our military based overseas, and former “pResident” Trump.

Any limitations on voters’ ability to cast their ballots in cities/counties that traditionally vote Democratic are purely coincidental – because all GOP efforts to limit voting rights are aimed at ensuring that white, gun-hugging, ‘good Christian’ Republicans have ample time to vote quickly and conveniently, as is their right.

Nuthin’ says “we have a platform that appeals to all Americans” like making sure ALL Americans don’t have an equal opportunity to vote. Nuthin’ says “our party has a lot to offer” like making sure that those who think what your party offers is bullshit have limited access to casting their ballots.

I’d be interested in hearing any Republican congress-critter’s explanation for how and why such voter surpression tactics aren’t aimed at specifically surpressing Democratic votes.

Actually, I’d be interested in hearing from any Republican who still has a spine – as I understand that species is now extinct.

they are the reason for the death and dying of "common sense". Throughout my life I have found that oppositional defiance is alive and well in "lib'rals". Set up blocks to keep us from accomplishing something and we will crawl through broken glass if necessary to get 'er done! I believe our Founding Fathers also had this trait, because they were a radical liberal group!!!!

and practicing "reTHUG illogic" and once we realize the difference we can begin to
understand and deal with what was once an increasingly criminal enterprise and is now
a full-blown fascist organization.

We have laws that specifically deal with this problem but trying to deal with it from the
standpoint of logic is a waste of time.

6. Republicans know they can't win fair elections

They've even made that point in legal filings!

The only way Republicans can attain and hold political power is by cheating.

Republicans have been asked this. And they openly admit its to help them win.

They have convinced their gullible base that its because of securing the vote. But the politicians know its to suppress Democratic votes.

And even IF some R voters realize the real reason, I think they now have been so conditioned to fear the Socialist Hordes, they don't care if they have to cheat, or their R governor cheats for them, as long as a Republican wins.

"to give food or water to voters standing on line "

Offer food/water to folks who step out of line temporarily to get it.

...such voter suppression tactics aren't aimed at Democratic voters: Well, more than a few Republicans actually have stated that out loud and made arguments to courts through their lawyers to the same effect. It's not like their goals are still inscrutable. Decades ago, GOP strategist Paul Weyrich told a friendly audience that "I don't want more people voting, I want less," or words to that effect.
