Im still nervous and will be until my 30 minutes are up. I could sort of feel a flush afterwards, which concerned me.

(14,637 posts)Now that I'm home and fed, I feel better. I actually stopped at the emergency vehicle on my way out to get checked on and he said I'm fine. And I've already scheduled my 2nd dose!

(28,833 posts)Quote: Moderna's vaccine would likely produce similar results, since both vaccines work similarly.
For its part, Moderna found in its supplemental research submitted to FDAbased on nasal swab test datathat only 14 of the 14,134 people given its vaccine had an asymptomatic case of Covid-19, compared with 38 of the 14,073 people in the control group.

(11,559 posts)So 94% is right in line with the most mainstream of vaccines. No one ever even talks about 100%, because absolutes are not only very unlikely, but tend to get the forecaster in trouble, eventually.

(38,601 posts)Not only for protecting the vaccinated, which seems excellent

(11,559 posts)What I am a bit confused about, though, is the wisdom coming down from public health officials. They have been saying that, even when every person who is going to get vaccinated has been, it STILL won't be time to leave the masks at home and get close to people again.
If it's just a couple of weeks to give the vaccine time to get one's body to produce the appropriate proteins, fine. But they should say that. The impression so many are left with is that these COVID protocols will be in place indefinitely.

(38,601 posts)In the meantime here, because you can still get sick even with a vaccine, I think we really need to stop the spread before we can relax measures.

(11,559 posts)We are retired, and holing up in our quiet house in our quiet neighbourhood isn't much of a hardship. In fact, it hasn't changed our lives all that much.
The big thing is that my wife can't travel back to her native WNY at her convenience, though.

(4,219 posts)Because so many idiots are not wearing masks NOW, they are very very cautious to relax things.
Plus, they are finding out each week a bit more about this aptly name "novel" virus.
