CNNs Don Lemon on Thursday slammed people who spew racist rhetoric and then complain about political correctness or cancel culture when they are called out for their offensive comments.
Dont give me that fake Im being censored BS, said the CNN anchor as he picked apart Rep. Chip Roys (R-Texas) defense of inflammatory rhetoric during a House hearing on anti-Asian sentiment earlier in the day.
Lemon aired footage of Rep. Grace Meng (D-N.Y.) and Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Calif.) condemning Roys comments. Anti-Asian attacks have soared during the coronavirus pandemic, enabled by ex-President Donald Trumps use of racist slurs to describe the virus. On Tuesday, six women of Asian descent were among eight people shot to death at massage spas in the Atlanta area.
Its always some excuse, Lemon said of what now appears to be the go-to justification for racist comments. For saying some BS, for being racist or bigoted or letting it slip. Maybe these days, I dont even know if its even letting it slip, people just say it.

(82,849 posts)Jeremy Christian, the Max killer, originally was complaining about his "free speech" rights to bully and harass two girls on a mass-transit train in Portland. When he got interrupted by three men who didn't much care for him and his free speech, he stabbed them in the throat, killing two of them. Chip Roy's comments about free speech sound a lot like Christian's excuses for stabbing three people. I hope Rep. Roy doesn't have a bad day anytime soon.

Emily Post and Miss Manners would not approve.

Twitter users were quick to correct Rep. Chip Roy, who uttered the disturbing line during a hearing about violence against Asian Americans.

Roys supposed old Texas saying isnt that old, or even from Texas. Its actually a lyric from the song Beer For My Horses, which Keith ― who was born in Oklahoma ― released in 2002.

Toby Keith
Beer for my horses
Well a man come on the 6 o'clock news
Said somebody's been shot, somebody's been abused
Somebody blew up a building, somebody stole a car
Somebody got away, somebody didn't get too far yeah
They didn't get too far
Grandpappy told my pappy, back in my day, son
A man had to answer for the wicked that he done
Take all the rope in Texas find a tall oak tree,
Round up all them bad boys hang them high in the street
For all the people to see
That justice is the one thing you should always find
You got to saddle up your boys, you got to draw a hard line
When the gun smoke settles we'll sing a victory tune
And we'll all meet back at the local saloon
We'll raise up our glasses against evil forces singing
Whiskey for my men, beer for my horses
We got too many
