Just finished watching a replay of Biden's speech in Atlanta this afternoon...
DAYUM he's wonderful!!!
FUCKIN'-A.
We've never had a Comforter-in-Chief like this guy Biden. NEVER. NOT EVVVERRR. And I can think back through presidencies since JFK. And MAN-OH-MAN do we need that at this time!!!
Just had to put that on the record.

(10,828 posts)So many wounds to heal, so many worries and nightmares. And then, there's Joe Biden who has had his share and more, who knows the pain and therefore knows how to comfort. And he's surrounded himself with men and women at the top of their fields, so the American public's confidence, belief in a better future is beginning to soar. Even after a grim moment of violence as we just witnessed in Atlanta, people know they have someone at the top who understands, someone they can rely on.
We made the right choice for ourselves and for our country with a Healer-in-Chief, among many other attributes.
Hallelujah! For us and for the world.

(6,591 posts)At the time I hadn't seen anyone talk about that aspect, but it stuck me that that was a major, unique, much-needed quality that none of the other candidates had.

What a FANTASTIC investment (in time, campaign donations, Indivisible work, and more)! It's already paying all kinds of dividends - and not just for me but for EVERYONE who needs help right now!
VERY happy with the results so far! And shit - there actually ARE results! And this soon!

(16,926 posts)He ran before - and was out of the running rather early, as I recall.
But WOW, has he ever learned - and we are the winners because of it!

(81,261 posts)He wasn't able to achieve the White House in his own right - until now. And he just mowed the competition down from the South Carolina primary onward. All the way up to and including donald trump last November, and the republi-CONS trying to block the COVID relief bill and whatever else they think they can do to pee on his parade.
He is such a basically genuinely good man. What you see is what you get. No salesmanship, no schtick, no con jobs, no bloviating and big talk, nothing done to impress anybody or gain fame or gain advantage. No guile.
SHEESH-A-ROONEY-PIE! And he came to power not a nanosecond too soon.
We've all needed this, sooooooooooooo badly.

(5,420 posts)"Comforter-in-Chief" is a wonderful way to describe Mr. Biden. Infinitely better than destroyer-in-chief . . .
Thank You!

And I've heard a few others in the air also using that phrase to refer to Biden. It's a good one. Sure fits!
There's nothing like him! Exactly the right man at precisely the right time.

He knew he should be POTUS now.
He was just Biden his time.

(23,983 posts)...admiring President Biden even more than I admired President Obama, and I would not have thought that possible.

(23,983 posts)...an advantage, if you can call it that, in that the other side of the aisle only hates him because he is a Democrat, not doubly despises him because he is a black Democrat. He doesnt have to worry about stepping very carefully so as not to be labeled an angry black man.

(9,249 posts)Barack Obama learnt the 'angry black man' lesson early - as a teenager. 'No sudden moves' he wrote in Dreams of my Father. I can't remember who, but one of his Cabinet talked about how he could tell the President was getting angry - you had to look carefully. As Valerie Jarrett said 'Barack does not do yelling'. He rarely raises his voice.
President Biden and his team brought with them the lessons they learnt in the Obama Administration. And it shows. They have only been away for 4 years. It is an incredible opportunity. A fresh start together with prospect of 'doing over' the things that could of been done better the first time round. The political event having your future self advising you today.
