The GOP doesn't care about G W Bush.

Last edited Fri Mar 19, 2021, 08:55 PM - Edit history (2)

As Democrats, we respect and highly regard our former Presidents and Candidates. It's not that we refrain from criticism, but be still think they are relevant and still honor them. It is worth it to us to listen to Carter and Clinton and Kerry and Obama and Clinton. We like and or love them all.

But the GOP has only one living past President before Trump, and he is irrelevant to them. When he comes out and makes a statement, like urging people to get the vaccine, it doesn't move the needle for Republican voters.

People talk about how Republicans aren't the Party of Goldwater anymore. Well, they aren't the Party of Reagan (who was once their Holy Spirit) or the Party of Bush. It is astonishing how a recent two term President is irrelevant to his own Party

They are solely the Party of Trump. A Party with no political agenda save white supremacy, racism and tearing down our Country's institutions.

I am by no means sying any of those men deserve our respect, They did great harm to the Country. But from a GOP perspective, it is a curious thing.

... that's a good point. They don't care much for Romney or McCain, either. I didn't and still don't have much admiration for Bush Jr. They also had Nixon and Ford. Reagan was the one they really adored - but after his first year, Reagan wasn't their ideal anymore... signing a new Social Security Tax, MLK Day, Sandra Day O'Conner, compromising with Tip, partying with the Communists... they have not mentioned Reagan as much. Trump is their leader.

When GW Bush left office I wrote this poem for what I'd say to his face if I could:

I'd tell you to go fuck yourself
But that is much too kind
For if you could perform that feat
You'd take pleasure in your behind

I'd like to say eat shit and die
But you deserve much more
You should suffer all the grief and pain
Of your misbegotten war

Though I can never make you think
Or feel, or understand
I'll take solace when you hear your name
Cursed throughout the land

From inside a lonely prison cell
Dark and bare and cold
Where every day you pay for your crimes
Until you're sick, heartbroken, and old

When you finally leave the earth
You fucked over oh so well
If there is a God and afterlife
You're going straight to hell.

There was more than enough probable cause that Kerry should NEVER have conceded the next day.

I'm old enough to remember when Dubya could do no wrong among their ranks.

Now, recently he made the declaration that, when he was asked about the election, that it was not in fact rigged, stating the obvious. That should be enough right there to merit ostracization among the rebubs.

Reminds me of the disparaging comments trump made regarding McCain, i.e. not a war hero because he was captured. And the party that claims to support the military veterans didn't seem to mind one bit.

It really comes out during lunch outings with the office crew. They hate it when I tip well. They hate it when I hand twenty bucks to a homeless person who asks for money. This is a direct quote from one of my esteemed coworkers: “Oh that’s right. [Iggo] helps.” And this gem, one of my all-time favorites: “I hate it when people try to make me feel guilty.” And I think that last one is really telling. That one guy, at least, thinks I do it to make him look bad. Not because I care. Not because it’s the right thing to do. Not even that it just needs to be done. Somehow, it’s all just to make him look bad.

W was waaaay worse.

His Iraq War was not only responsible for millions of deaths in Iraq... but it started the upheaval of the Middle East which led to violent uprisings all across the region.

ISIS... the GOP call Obama the "Father of ISIS"... nonsense. W is the father of ISIS.

Egypt... Mubarak was a bad guy BUT he kept the country in order. Instability ensued when he was overthrown and multiple gov'ts have been in power since. Don't forget the Islamic Brotherhood thugs throwing protestors from roof tops.

Libya... same thing. W created the instability.

All over the Middle East.

I'd rank W as a bottom 3 choice in the POTUS rankings. Maybe last place.
