After years together a relationship with a loving older dog and its 'person' is so special--the knowledge and instinctive understanding between them, of emotions and needs--just seem to meld together.

we had a great boxer dog when i was a kid. a friend of my da's moved to manhatten and couldnt take him. he never wrapped his head around that, i dont think. he was such an amazing dog.
