Paul’s neighbor liked to keep his yard meticulous. Paul repeatedly kept making piles of rubbish right on their property line just to piss him off. The neighbor repeatedly asked him to stop and even cleaned up the piles for Paul, but he kept doing it. Finally the neighbor lost it and handed his ass to him. Then Paul tried to pretend he was a completely helpless victim.

Had I been on the jury in the assault case I would have voted not guilty. You can’t go through live being an asshole without the expectation of an occasional attitude adjustment.

I would have dealt with it differently. I would have built an 8’ privacy fence just on my side of the property line and on his side painted, “Rand Paul is a Festering Asshole” in big bold letters.

I think every utterance of derision and contempt toward mask wearing is a form of medical malpractice and subject to license being revoked, since he purports to continue practicing "all over the world"..

Really Rand Paul? Really??

.... by a person NOT wearing a mask?

For those that either don't know how they check the back of your eye they use a big hand-held magnifier and get with 10 inches of your face and look through the magnifier after your eyes have been dilated.

THEY GET DIRECTLY IN YOUR FACE.

Here is a similar inspection using an ophthalmoscope.

ar?ro·gant·ly adv.
Synonyms: arrogant, haughty, disdainful, supercilious
These adjectives mean characterized by an inflated ego and disdain for what one considers inferior. One who is arrogant is overbearingly proud and demands excessive power or consideration: an arrogant and pompous professor, unpopular with students and colleagues alike. Haughty suggests superiority, as by reason of high status: "Her laugh was satirical, and so was the habitual expression of her arched and haughty lip" (Charlotte Brontë).
Disdainful emphasizes scorn or contempt: "Nor [let] grandeur hear with a disdainful smile, / The short and simple annals of the poor" (Thomas Gray).
Supercilious implies haughty disdain and aloofness: "Failure would confirm the critics who called him supercilious for following his own methods and not theirs" (Neal Bascomb).

Would seem to fit him to a T.

The real problem with these people is that they are ideologues. They try to make the facts fit their beliefs. I considered his father just a low class huckster, but this one has achieved real power by getting into the Senate. I remember driving back to Minneapolis after the 2008 DNC and seeing cars headed to Minneapolis for the Rand Paul "Revolution". They were all old beaters festooned with stickers. I assumed that the main point was to hawk his book and other junk just like an old time medicine show working the rubes.
A lot of people get impressed by degrees like Paul's "doctor", but I learned a long time ago that ingrained beliefs often trump rational thought even among the educated. One of the craziest religious nuts I ever worked with was a very competent engineer. He thought witches were after him. Personally, I think it's a form of mental illness where the person can be two different people. One based on facts and the other batshit crazy.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/right-turn/wp/2013/11/08/rand-paul-has-another-problem/

In the spring of 2010 stories first swirled around Sen. Rand Paul’s certification as an ophthalmologist by an outfit called the “National Ophthalmology Board,” an entity he founded. This week I discovered that while he continues to present himself as “board certified” the NOB has been out of business since 2011, and in any event, does not under Kentucky law permit him to advertise as “board certified.”

In 2010 Rand Paul explained that he formed the board in 1997 along with 200 young ophthalmologists to protest a decision by the American Board of Ophthalmologists to grandfather those who were certified by 1992, but to limit certification for a ten year period for those first certified after that date. Rand Paul fell within the latter group. He found that decision “discriminatory” and unfair so he set up the NOB along with his wife and father-in-law to certify himself. Despite calling itself “national,” it appears to have operated purely in Kentucky. The board remained in operation until 2000, when it was dissolved. It was reinstated in 2005. Since the certification story broke, the NOB again dissolved in 2011.
However, it is not clear how that entity would have comported within Kentucky law. Michael S. Rodman, executive director of the Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure tells Right Turn, “The Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure does not license physicians based on their specialty board certification nor is it a requirement for licensure. ” However, he explained that “Board does address specialty board certification through our regulation on physician advertising.” Rodman confirmed that if a board is not on the list, then a Kentucky specialist is prohibited from advertising himself as board certified. That list does not include the National Ophthalmology Board.

“National Board of Ophthalmology
In 1995, Paul was certified to practice by the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO).[26] In 1992, the ABO changed its certification program, which had previously awarded lifetime certifications, now required ophthalmologists to recertify every 10 years. Those who had already been given lifetime certification were not required to recertify. Paul felt this was unfair and began an aggressive campaign to have all ophthalmologists recertify every ten years. In 1997 he set up the National Board of Ophthalmology (NBO) to offer an alternative certification system, at a cost substantially lower than that of the ABO.[27][28][29] Its certification exam, an open book take-home test that Paul helped write, was described by one taker as "probably harder" and "more clinically relevant" than the ABO's exam.[27] Paul appointed his own family members to the board of directors and registered the Board to an incorrect address.[27]

Named board members were Paul, his wife, and his father-in-law.[30] The NBO was, itself, never accepted as an accrediting entity by organizations such as the American Board of Medical Specialties,[20] and its certification was considered invalid by many hospitals and insurance companies. Paul let his own ABO certification lapse in 2005, which did not affect his practice in Kentucky; the state does not require board certification. By Paul's estimate, about 50 or 60 doctors were certified by the NBO.[27] The NBO was incorporated in 1999, but Paul allowed it to be dissolved in 2000 when he did not file the required paperwork with the Kentucky Secretary of State's office. He later recreated the board in 2005, but it was again dissolved in 2011.[31]“

The original op stated Paul couldn’t pass the ABO exam which is not true as he had already passed it.

Just at the beginning of every first class meeting when he covered paper writing. Wikipedia was not permitted as a source. Then he would edit the link. Not actually a source.

Anyway it looks like you’re right that he did at one point pass board certification. And it looks like he was a giant hairy pain in the butt in his profession, or was, as well.

Thanks.

Maybe that's why so many MDs in Congress are Republicans - they're not really good enough to be in practice, so they run for Congress?
