Moderate Republicans Versus Trump Republicans

So as Democrats should we care whether Moderate Republicans control the Republican Party versus Trump Republicans? I say yes. John McCain's last act in the Senate was to vote against the Republican attempt to end Obamacare. A decisive action. Mitt Romney and a few other Republicans have stood against Trump and his mindless minions.

Should we be doing something to prevent the Republican Party from being overrun by Trumpists? Should we be helping moderates and "never Trump" Republicans? Would the country be better if our opponents were more Centrist Repubs versus the crazy Trump people?

1. I think we should stay out of what is none of our business. Let them tussle and hustle over this by

themselves. They certainly would do nothing to help Democrats.

is not moderate by any stretch of the imagination.

5. Yes, has it been convenient for people to forget that Merrick Garland is a Republican.

I like him a lot despite being republican.

11. He isn't a Republican. He's a moderate Democrat, originally appointed

to the federal bench by Bill Clinton, and he once clerked for Justice William J. Brennan, one of the most liberal Supreme Court justices ever.

12. Ah, OK, I had read that he was Republican.

Well, these days you can't believe everything that you read.

13. I see no evidence Garland is a Republican. He worked in the Carter

and Clinton administrations. He clerked for William J. Brennan Jr. at the SCOTUS. He was a speechwriter for Democrat Houae member Abner Mikva. His wife's grandfather was a special counsel for FDR and Truman.

Please provide valid links and proof of your claim that he is a Republican.

TIA

15. Unfortunately I do not have a link. I read it while Obama was trying to get him in.

I did not think to save it. I stand corrected, which is good.

I am not afraid to admit I am wrong. If I did that I would not learn. Don't want to be like "them."

6. Are there any moderate Republicans anymore?

Honest question, I don't see it.

There are ones who are slightly less ugly, but not moderate by any stretch.

If there was a true moderate, they would have voted for the American Rescue Plan.

8. If there are, you wouldn't know it from their voting record.

Elected Republicans tend to vote as a bloc. And regular Republican voters still vote for the extremists in their party, even if only because such candidates are "not Democrats." Thus, moderate Republicans, if there are any, are no saving grace for their party, because their actions only aid and abet the fascists.

10. Nope, they've gone the way of the Dodo bird.

Now we have just "Fascist" and "Fascist-Lite" Republicans. The latter can impersonate a moderate at times.

21. Not now. They bailed in 2016.

The current bunch approve of Trumpís antics, except when Trump becomes too transparent and make them look bad.
