register them and give them something like a debit card with maybe $5000 per family member so they have some time to get an apartment, find a job, maybe even get a dirt cheap used car? Hastens their ability to assimilate into society and reduces their changes of ending up struggling and homeless, and the debit card could easily be cancelled if the event they do something criminal and worthy of deportation?

It would be a nice thing to do,(I think in Canada there was a program like this some time ago with the Syrian refugees where families got $ for living expenses and a Canadian citizen to “mentor” them on adapting to Canadian life). But I cannot see it happening here. Too much anti-immigrant animosity here.
