Judge Rosemarie Aquilina sentenced a Michigan restaurant owner to jail Friday for flagrantly violating state health laws regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. That came less than 48 after Fox News agitator Tucker Carlson had tried to make the defendant one of his endless tales of national grievance.

Aquilina threw Holland, Mich. restaurateur Marlena Pavlos-Hackney in jail Friday after a raucous hearing. Aquilina ruled that Pavlos Hackney will remain in jail until the state is assured her restaurant -- Marlena's Bistro and Pizzeria -- is closed and she pays a $7,500 fine, the Detroit News reported.

Pavlos-Hackney has become a cause celebre among Michigan Republicans since the state took away her license for refusing to comply with even the most basic COVID-19 mitigation measures. The restaurant stayed open during a state shutdown and refused to follow mask requirements, seating limits or other social-distancing rules, according to various published reports.

17. You should see the stupid on full display in the YouTube comment section of a local news

report about it. The MAGATs are outraged to the max that she wasn't allowed to break the law at will "because of free will and freedumb." It was fun sparring with them until they dragged abortion into it, then I just gave up.

And it was interesting in a really lame sort of way that they couldn't tell me what was so different about her case from banning indoor smoking or that customers must wear shirts and shoes except some vague whining that Governor Whitmer is "a tyrant."

I'm so glad I got the hell out of West Michigan and into a blue area of the state.

The State / County /Municipality has to care for all it's citizens. It has rules for all the citizens. If a citizen decides they don't have to obey the rules, they'll be arrested.

She runs a restaurant. She has employees. She has rules for her employees to protect her business, all employees and customers. If an employee doesn't follow the rules she'll fire them.
