How much weight have you put on since the lockdown began?

I stopped and saw a friend yesterday that I hadn’t seen in person for a year. He’d definitely put on some weight. I don’t know exactly but I think I’ve put on about 20lbs. For the last year I’ve mostly run around in sweats, but the jeans I’d been wearing before Covid no longer fit me. I just have one pair I can wear, so as things open up I’ll probably need to get a few new clothes. Pants at least.

3 months ago we were obese. We went on an intermittent dies 20/4 which means we eat a meal at 1 PM and another at 5 PM and that is it. We are now overweight with him needing to lose another 20 pounds and I have to lose another 14 pounds. We were supposed to start boxing lessons early last year but that didn't happen. We got the Maderna shots at our VA clinic. We talked to the coach and we will start in 2 months.

Down around 30lbs since the start. Wife is down 20lbs. Less running around and less shuttling the kids back and forth between stuff meant less unhealthy fast food and more healthy home cooking. Started working out more at home since there was less to do. Also no more client dinner and business parties meant less alcohol.

Still the same weight, pant-size, etc.

I'm broad-shouldered and still considered "overweight" per my BMI, but a healthy weight by other standards that compare height to waist size.

I made some "beer belly" coworkers laugh pretty hard when I'd tell them that I was considered overweight too, according to my BMI!

I don't go to grocery stores but order online for delivery, and order only food that's on my diet. No temptations, food got so boring that sometimes I don't bother to eat at all for a meal or two. I really needed to do it, though; I'd let myself go since I retired.

The only thing I like more than baking Christmas treats is eating them. I figured out I gain about 7 lbs every holiday season. When I was younger it just dropped off. Well, that stopped happening about 5 years ago so there’s lots of Christmas past hanging around. I got the J&J vaccine this past Thursday and am looking forward to yoga classes.

I was right at 196 on the digital scale on my last day at the office on 3/16/20.

I’m at 214 on a different digital scale in my garage at home.

So when I say about 18 pounds, it’s because no two digital scales are alike.

Last year I was on a wonderful 18 day cruise to Hawaii, and before I set out I made up my mind not to gain weight during it. So rather than eating as much as I possibly could at every meal, I was picky about it, even had two wonderful meals in the specialty steak restaurant, and walked off the ship at the same weight as when I boarded.

But my BMI at the time was 31.5, into the obese range. I knew I should finally get my weight down. So I did. I mainly just cut way back on what I was eating, and have been successful. My BMI right now is hovering at 25, just into the overweight category. I am determined to get below that. Not drastically, but enough to be a normal weight.

One problem with the overweight/obese epidemic we have in this country is that most of us have forgotten what someone looks like who is not overweight or obese.

I also weigh myself every single day. Even all the years I was weighing a lot more than I wanted, I'd still weigh myself. Personally I think that's a good habit to be in. If you disagree, that's fine.

When I got my second vaccine I had to wait 30 minutes because of my shellfish allergy and talked with a gal about my age who also is diabetic. We SO agreed it was wonderful to talk to a person that understands what our lives are like. So you out there that can just EAT go ahead and enjoy. What's a few pounds?

This week I'm doing my own keto: Not all the animal fats, but also no carbs, so, it's lean protein and nuts and olive oil. With interval training on my own treadmill, it's working.

My big accomplishment is that I've now been jogging and lifting weights a year and my body is strong and can handle the intense sprints. I'm carrying lots of muscle for a 60 year old woman. That wasn't true a year ago, so I consider that progress, even though I'm up 5 lb.

I'm hoping to get back into some old jeans an another 5 lb,, but I'm prepared to admit that my age is not helping.

I'm in the 15th percentile for bmi for my age group, so that's not a totally bad thing, even if my waistline isn't what it once was...

I keep saying that at some point I'll give up and live on pasta, but I guess I'm not there....yet!!!

In our version they didn't allow food delivery for the first month so I had to cook all of my own food. I also made a quarantine resolution to eat healthier and take vitamins to build myself up in case I got sick.

Then once they started allowing food delivery again I slipped back into old habits a bit.
