Royal Caribbean to cruise from Bahamas, require COVID-19 vaccine for passengers, crew

Royal Caribbean International and its sister cruise line, Celebrity Cruises, will require COVID-19 vaccines for all adult passengers and crew members when they start sailing cruises in the Caribbean in June.

Royal Caribbean will sail departing from Nassau, the Bahamas, starting June 12, the cruise line announced Friday.

The seven-night cruises on Adventure of the Seas will be open to adult passengers and crew members fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and passengers under 18 with a negative coronavirus test.

requiring proof of vaccination I’d be all in. No desire to get crammed onto a boat.

They say they are being discriminated against! It's pretty entertaining.

then they will have to get the vax. It’s up to them.

I believe a lot of things are going to be off limits to those not vaccinated. Many airlines and countries will begin to require one be vaccinated.

Even sporting events, other entertainment events in NYS are going to require a vax or a negative test to attend. I doubt people are going to want to have a test every time they want to go to a ball game or concert. Once it enters their thick skulls they will need a vax, they will get it. They just won’t tell anyone.

Seriously, this needs to be done for all sporting events, concerts, movie theaters, etc, etc.

13. Well, they are being discriminated against...but it's perfectly legal and justified discrimination.

Only discrimination for specific protected reasons is illegal.

They don't want the vaccine? Ok, but they don't get to put everyone else at risk.

Eventually, we will have to go to something like a blockchain technology electronic proof of vaccination.

No one is going to trust some paper card.

The problem is the people checking if you have been vaccinated or not might not be able to access a electronic data base.

Airlines and cruise ship lines might have the computing power to actually check a persons bonafides vaccine wise but will the hostess at your restaurant have that same access?

There are apps the record your vaccination status but won't it need to be a national or international.

The International Air Transport Association is working on it. I think that Singapore Airlines is in the lead.

...its been mind boggling reading about free-dumb cruisers thinking they should be allowed to cruise before a vaccine program and implementation had been completed for everyone on the ship. I often go to cruisecritic.com (which is the largest cruise forum) and some of them have booked 4-5 cruises since the beginning of the pandemic and angrily criticizing the cancellation of all of them
