GOP governors are refusing to use new federal funds to expand health care

By Associated Press -March 21, 2021 1:00 PM

Republican governors are still refusing to expand Medicaid for their lowest-income citizens, even with more free money from the federal government.

Democrats' nearly $2 trillion coronavirus relief package includes a big financial incentive for the states that have opted against expanding Medicaid to provide health coverage for more low-income Americans. It's proving to be a tough sell.

The Associated Press surveyed top Republican elected officials in the dozen states that have resisted expanding coverage under a key provision of former President Barack Obama's heath care law. Some have softened their opposition, but the key gatekeepers — governors or legislative leaders — indicated they have no plans to change course.

South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster remains firmly opposed to the Medicaid expansion.

They literally have blood on there fucking hands............and any corporation in there state should be boycotted, because nine times out of ten they got money from them to do this shit and close the missile bases in most of these red states, if they can take tax dollars to have missile silos and defense contractors and space programs then they can take money to help the people in the state with health care ............

1. They're afraid expanding health care will actually help people,

that it will be known to help, and that Democrats will deservedly get the credit.

Even worse--"socialism"--the idea that government is there to help lift up and sustain people besides billionaires and millionaires--will take hold, leaving them out in the cold.

Selfishness plus fear is all the GOP has to offer.

If they could rig it so that this would only help whites, they would do it!

Especially in a place like South Carolina, where I believe many Republicans still regard black Americans as being subhuman!!!

It seems to me that the Repukes are being even more nasty with Biden than they were with Obama...the voters, congresscritters and governors.

None of them are interested in moving this country forward, just getting their revenge. I never thought I'd live long enough to see this day, but it's becoming more and more obvious...they don't even try to hide it anymore.
