German media says Karin Strenz - a close ally of Angela Merkel who received cash from #Azerbaijan - has collapsed and died on board a flight from Cuba. Krenz was a key figure in the laundromat scandal, acting as undeclared lobbyist for the #Aliyev regime

Strenz's payments came from a $3bn money laundering and lobbying scheme. She was one of several European politicians on the payroll and in 2015 voted against a motion in the Council of Europe calling on #Azerbaijan to release its political prisoners
