But when pressed on decriminalizing all currently illicit drugs, the entrepreneur and several of his competitors declined to explicitly embrace the broad policy change. Yang did say, however, that he also supports ending the criminalization of people who use certain opioids.
The war on drugs has been a war on people. We can all see that. Im for the total decriminalization of cannabis and marijuana, and we have to make sure that communities of color actually participate in the economic gains that are going to result from legalization, he said. Im for the decriminalization of many of these prescription opiates that, frankly, the drug companies have generated billions of dollars of blood money from.
If you have these drug companies profiting to this level and then turning aroundbecause what happens is a lot of the times people graduate from those prescription drugs to other forms of opiates, and then were criminalizing that behavior even though it was induced by this corporate behemoth that made billions of dollars, he said. To me this is not so much like a criminal activity problem as it is a public health problem.
Asked specifically to clarify where he stands on decriminalizing all currently illicit substances, Yang said he thinks law enforcement should not be pursuing people for possession and then pivoted, saying Im for legalization of psilocybin mushrooms, and Im open to the public policy impact of legalizing other substances.

(15,325 posts)This was from at a Tom Petty 30th anniversary concert in 2016. Black Crows also covered it.
Much controversy however lies in the meaning of rhe words.
But just in case, I'll just throw this in with the glib post :
Well, they'll stone ya when you're trying to be so good
They'll stone ya just a-like they said they would
They'll stone ya when you're tryin' to go home
Then they'll stone ya when you're there all alone
But I would not feel so all alone
Everybody must get stoned
Well, they'll stone ya when you're walkin' 'long the street
They'll stone ya when you're tryin' to keep your seat
They'll stone ya when you're walkin' on the floor
They'll stone ya when you're walkin' to the door
But I would not feel so all alone
Everybody must get stoned
They'll stone ya when you're at the breakfast table
They'll stone ya when you are young and able
They'll stone ya when you're tryin' to make a buck
They'll stone ya and then they'll say, "good luck"
Tell ya what, I would not feel so all alone
Everybody must get stoned....

(33,643 posts)I'm simply pointing out that
a) The song is titled "Rainy Day Women #12 & 35", not "Everybody Must Get Stoned", and
b) Although (of course) it's penned by Dylan, it's not Dylan singing it in the YT video.
Basically I'm just complaining about how they named it is all

(50,552 posts)AFN-Berlin, the first 24-hour radio station on earth, used to play good music in the mornings. I was on a bus heading to a rifle range when the DJ introduced the song with and now heres a classic Bob Dylan song. I am pretty sure the General was on the phone about ten seconds into the first chorus because the poor guy who played it came on the air after the song explaining that it wasnt really about drugs...
The reason AFN-Berlin was the first 24 hour station was right after the station was established the Stasi found the frequency, monitored the station to find out when it went up in the morning and down at night, and broadcast anti-American propaganda when AFN was off the air. When the first US Commander Berlin found out, he got the Army to send in enough broadcast journalists to keep the station on the air around the clock...and from that moment on, the station never went off the air.

(15,325 posts)Dylan spoke of a biblical meaning behind the words, about literally being 'stoned' (as in rocks) for average human behavior.
But another version says Dylan felt he'll be stoned (beat up) for everything he does.
Relating to the controversial times of his life, in those years of societal upheaval..
Everyone else just adopted the words as a get high song. And partied on.
