I heard a newsman say the Colorado shooter had a "long gun."

7. The 2019 Dayton shooter used a "long gun" too.

That was the SAME DAY as the mass shootings in El Paso TX.

His gunfire can be heard in this video, followed by the very rapid number of smaller-caliber guns from the police which thankfully killed him just before he walked into a nightclub.

I guess I also think that using the phrase "long gun" is a subtle way of using softer language for what these things really are: double pump shotguns, assault style semi automatic rifles, etc. When you call them what they really are they sound a bit nastier than the somewhat folksy sounding "long gun." I'd rather call them exactly what they are and let people form their own opinions.

For some reason the police are being very tight with the information that gets out on this. The first thing that comes to mind is the shooter was working with someone and they're trying to arrest that person too.

....is any gun that requires two hands to operate. These include assault rifles, submachine guns , shotguns , and hunting rifles to name a few.The length of the barrel is not a factor.

Yosemite Sam does not carry a long gun. He carries two revolvers.

... comes in the initial reports, when they're not exactly sure what he has/had, just what could be observed from a distance. To responding police, it indicates that they should expect something more powerful than a handgun, something that could penetrate their soft body armor.
