When Joe Biden was elected to the White House, he promised 100 million vaccine shots in his first 100 days. He has already exceed 100 million shots with more than a month to spare.
Americans who want to get vaccines are getting them in record numbers. But there are still plenty of people, many of them white male Trump supporters, who refuse to take the shot.
And beyond that, there are also Americans who will threaten other peoples ability to get inoculated. One of those men, Larry Harris, was arrested after trying to hijack a National Guard caravan transporting vaccines.
Larry Harris, a 66-year-old man from Wilcox, Arizona, was armed when he tailed three National Guard vehicles from a gas station in Lubbock to approximately two miles east of Idalou, authorities said. Idalou Police said that Harris made multiple attempts to run the caravan off the road, at times veering into oncoming traffic. Once the vans stopped, he pointed a gun at one unarmed Guardsman and demanded to search all of the vehicles, insisting that he was a detective. The Guardsmen eventually filed out of their vehicles.
Idalou Police Chief Eric Williams said of the incident, Mr. Harris appeared to be mentally disturbed. This was a very dangerous situation since the suspect was standing in the midst of the unarmed Guardsman with a loaded weapon when the Idalou Officers arrived on scene. We are grateful that the officers were able to take him into custody without any of the Guardsmen, the officers or the suspect getting hurt.
Guess how this jackass voted...

(30,613 posts)The guy should have been shot on the spot.
I know a Harris family from Willcox. I wonder if he is related. I don't remember a Larry, but I don't know all of them.

(72,187 posts)When the gunfucks start going on and on about how they're going to "take down th'gubmint!", we usually comfort ourselves with the knowledge that they are way outgunned by trained, heavily-armed troops. That's supposed to be our advantage. Who sent these guys along unarmed? They should be demoted!
Start arming the shipments and ordering the troops to shoot to kill any other asshole who tries something like this...

(53,214 posts)So far, the problem has been COVID deniers not wearing masks, social distancing, or getting vaccines. I don't think anyone anticipated someone attacking a truck with vaccines in it, though given how crazy some of these fools are, I suppose we shouldn't be too surprised.
The guy is 66 years old. This cannot be the first time he has done something outrageous and dangerous.

A REAL shame everything in our culture needs to be reactionary, rather than proactively planned.

(595 posts)This is the inevitable conclusion to what right wingers and their paid for politicians began and continue to propagate. He is no more crazy than the insurrectionists that tried to over turn the election on January 6. Calling him crazy means no one else is to blame, he is just a bad apple.
