and fly above the shooter and drop a chemical on his head to blind him or something.
Or a team of drones so he waste shots on drones and not people.
Justa thought ...🤷?♂️

Giving the police new weapons is idiotic.

(102,225 posts)I'm not saying it would be the right thing to do, but I'd like to hear the pros/cons (beyond cost of the device).
Here is a link to his real-time video of the event, but I would assume caution as the first minutes do show individuals on the ground that were (presumedly) killed. And yes, I fully acknowledge the controversy in his having videoed the entire episode and uploaded in real-time. But, I think that is for another discussion.

Personally, I think we should spend less money on militarizing the police and work on more reasonable means to deal with mass shooters, like, I don't know, gun control?

I realize youre proposing non-lethal means but old-school tear gas is probably sufficient for such situations (or did they try that?).

This is just another 'well we don't want to make the nazis angry by supporting gun control so we will do something else that will just make shit worse than before and not solve the problem."

(146,286 posts)doesn't it? Now, if you used the drone to harass the person or distract the person while you were moving people in on him or her, that would make some sense. But "drop a chemical on his head to blind him?" Really? I don't think we want to move in that direction, frankly.
Not a good idea at all, I think. Such a thing would certainly be misused, like with a group of protesters, for example.

(248 posts)I think its a great idea to save lives. Drop tear gas on the shooter or some other non lethal means of stopping him from killing people. Others are going to do what they want to do anyway. No matter what we do. Could be used to stop school shootings too. Techie students could monitor.
