Dan Rather is one of the wisest men among us

Dan Rather @DanRather

Such sadness. Such loss. So needless. So prevalent. How can we break the cycle of gun violence? Why is this allowed to be accepted? There are so many answers to that last question. None of them are acceptable.

1. Perhaps a slightly more durable regulatory framework?

After all, the Second Amendment starts off by calling for a well-regulated militia. There appear to be some persistent gaps in our regulatory framework around private ownership of arms, because these massacres keep happening.

People who are clearly emotionally unstable should not be allowed to own firearms of mass destruction.

This shit has to end!

And *ban* such firearms of mass destruction!

they could rule that "a well regulated militia" means our national guard and military reserves, not just anyone.

Unfortunately, gun sales will keep going up after every mass shooting while GOP claims "Biden's coming for your guns" while blocking all reforms.

When enough people say it is to soon for legislation (give us time to mourn). We go a long.

Now it is enough of that.

It is not to soon, it is is to late!

I heard that on MSNBC The Last Word. A Colorado State Senator said it and i fully agree.

This happened in Boulder Colorado of all places......Home of U.S. Representative Bang-Bang Boebert......

I wonder if when she spouted her sadness yesterday, if she was pictured with her incredible wall of guns behind her like she normally is pictured........Or maybe with a picture of her walking the halls of the Capitol with a gun strapped to her hip??????

7. Republican Mental Disease Is The Gun Problem

That is the answer.

The "need" to have access to firearms is a mental problem.

They "need" to be able to intimidate people, and have the capacity to "act out" when they have a "bad day" as sheriff dumbass said.

11. Frankly, I'm sick TO DEATH of all those "many answers to that last question."

They’re ALL WRONG!!!

I’m sick to death of hearing about fucking gun “rights” and the damn fucking second amendment!!!

If it were up to me, remembering the two friends I loved and cared about - who are DEAD. Repeat. DEAD because there was a gun in the house within easy reach. All it took was ONE argument. ONE! If it were up to me, ALL the guns would go.

ALL of them.

Every last goddamn one of ‘em.

It wouldn’t get my friends back for me. But you know what else? Nobody else would lose THEIR friends in an argument gone wrong with a goddamn gun in the house within easy reach.

There’s always a lot of conversation to the effect of “nobody wants to take yer guns...”. Oh yeah? ME!

ME!!!!!

Right HERE!!! I’ll stand right up and be counted. I DO!!! I wanna take them ALL!!! I want them ALL gone. Every last goddamn one of ‘em.

with any effective action. Honestly I wish I were.

I’d guess gun-lovers everywhere would be happy I don’t want to run for higher office. Besides, I’m too old and I don’t have the necessary background, connections, financing, or resume. And I lack a magic wand.

If I did, I’d get rid of ALL the guns AND get my two dead friends back. And as many innocent mass-murder victims as possible.
