Out senator Kyrsten Sinema's favorability ratings are tanking & everyone knows why

The senator’s willingness to sacrifice LGBTQ civil rights in favor of the filibuster and opposition to raising the minimum wage has cost her support from Democrats.

By Bil Browning Tuesday, March 23, 2021

Out Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) is paying a steep price for her stance in favor of an old Senate procedural maneuver that imperils LGBTQ civil rights legislation and other progressive priorities. Sinema is the only out bisexual senator. But her recent attempt to look “bipartisan” isn’t gaining her new Republican fans; it’s losing her Democratic support.

-snip-

OH Predictive Insights’s most recent Arizona Public Opinion Pulse polling shows support for the senator dropping like a rock. Although the results were within the margin of error, the poll shows that her unfavorable ratings now outweigh positive reviews of her performance.

Forty percent of respondents had an unfavorable opinion of Sinema. Thirty-nine percent viewed her favorably. The margin of error is 3.7%.

Only 50 percent of Democrats give Sinema a thumbs up now and 30 percent view her unfavorably after her opposition to raising the federal minimum wage despite campaigning to increase it and her staunch support for the filibuster.

Make no mistake, Moscow Mitch will find a way to give her cover, comfort, protection with promises to help fund her primary campaign and whatever other corrupt means to have her to defect until the primaries, where then Moscow Mitch and the RNC will just run their own candidate, throw her under like a cheap coat.

Same with Manchin. Although they'd stick by Manchin I think or go with the WV Gov when it's primary time.

Is if she has a natural goop constituency in another goop state who will vote for her, just like Multiple-Choice Mitch has in Utah.

Otherwise, her political career is over if she switches goop.

after her thumbs down and little dance. I just could not follow her thought process.
If she did it to impress the GOP, that did not work as poll numbers show.
Kelly was elected as a liberal, why did she think she had to be different?

The sad tale of the 'blue dog', repeated over and over and over, without any capacity to learn displayed.

Votes from your side are lost, no votes from the other side are gained, and defeat becomes inevitable.

People who vote for a Democrat want the person they vote for to support Democratic policies, and if that person fails to do so, that person will not receive their votes a second time.

"Dance with them what brung ya to the ball."

I can't figure out the thought process behind this.

For the last ten years or so, Democrats have been constantly "advised" by so-called consultants that they need to appeal to the mythical "moderate Republican" voter, so they'll be re-elected. I don't get it. They got elected as a Democrat in the first place! Why would they want to appeal to Republicans?? How about appealing to Democrats, the people who worked to get you elected??

And you're right about another thing - they rarely pick up many Republican votes, but they sure as hell lose a LOT of Democratic support by acting this way. Republicans are never going to vote in large numbers for some "socialist libtard," which is how they characterize ANY Democrat. As Alan Grayson used to say all the time, "You can't beat a Republican by trying to BE one."

I honestly struggle to wrap my head around what is to gain from being an obstructionist spoiler. All it will do is lead to a repeat of 2010 and 2012 and more years in the political wilderness.

Crossing the aisle to the GOP side, we find that Sinema is treading water among liberal- or moderate-identifying Republicans, with only a net -4% favorability (40% favorable /44% unfavorable). Still, among conservative Republicans, her unfavorables (59%) are twice as large as her favorables (28%). Among Independents, she’s barely above water at 36% favorability and 34% unfavorability.
...
As a more traditional Democrat, Mark Kelly’s favorability ratings are more predictable. A positive net favorability of +68% (79% favorable/11% unfavorable) among Democrats is in stark contrast to his Republican net favorability of -51% (21% favorable/72% unfavorable). Independents show +19% favorability (49% favorable/30% unfavorable).

https://ohpredictive.com/press-releases/sinemas-independence-costs-democratic-support/

When your net favorability is about the same among Independents and mod/lib Republicans, you have to wonder what the fuck you're really doing, as a Democrat. Kelly has a popular, secure position - well-favored by Democrats (who'll work for your re-election), and still popular among Independents (who, in a mixed electorate, are the easiest to lose). Sinema is committing electoral suicide while pissing off her supporters.
