(2,685 posts)And how is taking away my vote because it might have been a fraud any different from voting twice? You get the same result but Republicans have done it to me three times. I used to vote in the Republican primary since that gave me more power in Texas where my liberal vote was a throw away. When I started voting in the Democratic primary, that is when I started having problems.

Or maybe their instructions have identified a different set of targets?

(22,602 posts)Yes, voting is great and getting out the vote is fantastic, but when it comes right down to it, America has a huge problem that we can't seem to do a fucking thing about.

(11,094 posts)After Sandy Hook massacre - and the complete shrug of indifference by the Republican Senators to block even background checks on gun purchases - this shit hole nation's soul died. It was further mutilated by the presence of one Donald John Trump in the office of the President from January 2017 to January 2021, with a final death rattle / spasm on January 6th, 2021.
Any country that can stomach the slaughter of 20 innocent 6 and 7 year old children, abide the election and actions of the worst executive in the history of the world for 4 years and STILL cannot get more gun ownership restrictions than voting registration restrictions is not worth contemplating, let alone saving.
Its time to simply hit the reset button on this entire experiment in self-rule and to similarly entertain discussions of breaking up the contiguous union in favor of two separate and eventually wildly unequal nations.
I have no common cause or sense of citizenship or brotherhood with the modern Republican party as faced by the likes of Gohmert, McConnell, McCarthy, Boebert, or Greene. I have no compromise in my soul that will make a "deal" with these people. I want them gone, no longer part of the nation's destiny because their vision of a future is to drive the car we all ride in off a cliff because they were denied the right to change the music selection.
I want to live in a country that values the lives and rights of its citizens above the ideological insanity of promoting universal arming of the populace while fighting to prevent universal healthcare of the same.
That goal, that vision, that desire, cannot be met by allowing the current Republicans to wield outsized power relative to population and representation. It is time to hand them back their ball, show them the gate and kick their fucking asses right through, while locking it behind them.
Too much blood, too little accountability...too high a cost for a civilized nation to continue to bear.
