IRS info for Social Security recipients who don't file income tax returns...

From an IRS memo released Monday:

"In addition, the IRS will automatically send EIP3 to people who didn't file a return but receive Social Security retirement, survivor or disability benefits (SSDI), Railroad Retirement benefits, Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Veterans Affairs benefits. This is similar to the first and second rounds of Economic Impact Payments. Social Security and other federal beneficiaries will generally receive this third payment the same way as their regular benefits.

"The IRS is working directly with the Social Security Administration, the Railroad Retirement Board, and the Veterans Administration to obtain updated 2021 information for recipients to ensure it is sending automatic payments to as many people as possible. More information about when these payments will be made will be provided on IRS.gov as soon as it becomes available."

Lots more good information here:

So at least those in this category know that they are not forgotten, and that they will certainly receive the funds sometime, if not as soon as they'd like, which should mitigate some of their anxiety.

I also receive social security and do not file. I checked online and saw that Trump signed last year's legislation into law on 3-27-00. I looked at my bank statement from last year, which showed that I received the direct deposit on 4-29-00. I was surprised that it took so long for me to get that payment. My memory, which may be faulty, is that mine came around the same approximate date that most others in my situation received their payments, and if true, that fact would at least show that we are not yet behind last year's payment schedule. Of note.....I did get the $600 payment very quickly.

My mom got her Social Security last night but no stimulus.

But I have good news on mine. It was sent to a closed account on the 17th, and today it updated to be mailed on the 31st.
