Iconvened two focus groups of six voters each last week to ask the following question: Imagine the Republican partythe totality of the partywas a person, just one person. What characteristics would this person have?
I was not asking them to describe any particular person, but rather to pretend that the attributes you associate with the Republican party were encapsulated in one person.
The answers these Trump-Biden voters gave were interesting, and may shed light on how four years of Donald Trump have affected perceptions of the party. The first group was composed of five independents and one Democrat. Their responses were:
Stubborn
Conservative
Unreliable
Selfish
Greedy
Ultra-capitalist
Closed-minded
Ultra-religious
Anti-immigrant
Hypocritical
The second group contained three Republicans, two independents, and one libertarian. Their responses were:
Fiercely loyal
Fiscally conservative
Responsible
Egotistical
More extreme
Rudderless
Narcissistic
Controlling
Elitist
Fearful
Passionate
Inconsistent
Divided

(50,949 posts)we never do.
The DEMOCRATS are the party of fiscal responsibility and have been for at least a generation. Republicans routinely blow up the economy and Democrats routinely have to bring it back.
We really need to get some kind of messaging program to get those facts into the heads of these idiots.
