'What happened to the assault weapon shrine?'

Sharp-eyed critics of Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) noticed a none-too-subtle change in her decor on Tuesday night after she posted an interview she did with Newsmax on the mass shooting in her state on Monday.
In a previous question and answer Zoom session she did weeks ago, she had a full display of her personal armory haphazardly stacked on the bookshelves behind her. Tuesday night those same guns were nowhere to be seen, replaced with books.
It did not go unnoticed as you can see below:

Hey Boebert your still a POS, do you think that open carry law in my former state would have prevented this shit..........don't think so, its about fucking back ground checks and and just for added fun with what ever is running through that rock between your ears called a brain, its not about that racist's second amendment dogma either that your side likes to spout off about and use all the time like in the twitter feed you posted .............

But while decent people were still processing the horrific tragedy, Boebert saw it as a moment to line her pockets via some incendiary, pro-gun rhetoric. Raw Story noticed that one hour after her prayers and just two hours after the massacre, Boebert was ready to cash in. Apparently, she was in too big a rush to carefully proofread. She wrote:
Fellow Patriot, as a supporter, I want to make sure you are up-to-date with what is happening in Washington. While the Media with the help of Big Tech pretends that Joe Biden is a moderate, AOC, Nancy Pelosi, and Chuck Schumer are filling their radical liberal army into a Trojan Horse to attack our freedoms. Next: our Second Amendment.
Who do they think they are?! I will fight this new attack on our sacred rights with everything I have. . This effort can only end with one tthing: turning law abiding citizens into criminals. Thats what they want. Do you thing [sic] the gang members, drug runners, and thugs will obey their laws? Of course not. This is about punishing conservatives who want to keep the right to defend their family and their livelihood.

(2,636 posts)except the assault rifle ban that Colorado's legislature passed but a Judge struck down just six days before the shooting. Laws like that?
The 2nd Amendment is not about personal armories. That's a sign of sickness, amassing an arsenal like that. She knows it, or she would not have taken them down and replaced them with books she's never read. It's not about personal self defense, or it wouldn't start with the phrase A well regulated militia....
We need to stop pretending the 2nd Amendment didn't have its origins in armed militias clearing out natives on the edges of the colonies and in slave patrols hunting down escaped property. That's the bargain the Southern States made--their slave patrols
or militias, as they were called, needed to be able to cross state lines. We need to stop pretending muskets and shotguns and assault rifles are all the same. We need to stop pretending that everyone who wants a gun should have one. Where all these hoards of home invaders? WHere are all these good guys with guns stopping crimes in progress? Too many dudes like Boebert and Cawthorn and Greene who have no interest in serving in the military or the guard want to pretend they are all that's standing between us and oblivion. It's delusional video game pretend bravery and valor.
It's toxic Masculinity in bed with religious fervor. The GOP immediately went to you own't take my guns, and offered a hearty defense of prayers that clearly are not working. They defend white guys' right to murder others as the cost of doing business even after the Insurrection.
On a positive note, McTurltle's lips are blue. He's trying to hide that, but they're blue. He is not gettign good blood flow. He is paling around with the Grim Reaper, who really doesn't want him either. Beshear needs to put a democra in when Mitch croaks. and then we need to go bigger than big.

(11,666 posts)A farmer with a musket was a match for a British soldier. Today, you would need a nuclear tipped cruise missile silo in your back yard and a armored personnel carrier with depleted uranium shells in your garage. Its your right, nay, your duty, to be as heavily armed as your oppressive government soldier.

(34,185 posts)The State of Pennsylvania (abolitionist from its founding) had and still has a strongly worded RKBA in its state constitution.
Originally stated as:
XIII. That the people have a right to bear arms for the defense of themselves and the state; and as standing armies in the time of peace are dangerous to liberty, they ought not to be kept up; And that the military should be kept under strict subordination to, and governed by, the civil power.
Revised to:
The right of the citizens to bear arms in defense of themselves and the State shall not be questioned.
Pennsylvania Constitutional Provision Article I, Section 21: Right to bear arms.

(1,915 posts)I would say only one gun but the Constitution does say bear arms plural.
If it were up to me there would only be one type of gun on the market and that's the type of gun an 80 year old grandma could fire.
Personally I Think we should go back to the 6 shooter hand loading revolvers and thats it.
Maybe one rifle for hunting.
And citizens are allowed up to 2 of those.
That would satisfy the strict interpretation of the Constitution it says you can bear arms but it doesn't say what type and it doesn't say you are allowed more than 2
