It is estimated that around 300,000 whales and dolphins die each year as secondary victims of the fishing industry.
That is, by far, the least significant revelation in the new Netflix documentary Seaspiracy that came out today.
I have been talking of issues with overfishing literally for decades and made the personal decision to not consume commercial caught or farmed fish years ago.
Despite all I thought I knew, this documentary was a gut punch.
Its not based on theory or assumptions. He interviewed significant environmental experts, the actual heads of huge, well known environmental organizations and they, in their own words, exposed themselves as frauds.
There is no such thing as "dolphin safe tuna" while every cynical person reading this is now saying to themselves "we knew that" I don't think you really do. You thought, you may have believed it. But few based that on hard, real fact.
Now you can.
In their own words, the two largest organizations for certification of safe caught tuna, Earth Island Institute and MSC, admit, themselves, in their own words, they cannot actually guarantee its safe. Not even close.
That is just scratching the surface. Haven't even talked about the murder, conspiracy, slavery, human trafficking and pollution and environmental destruction on a unprecedented scale.
Its worth the watch. I promise.
