I've totally had it with fucking idiot GOPER politicians who refuse to follow the lead of medical professionals. I've totally fucking had it with selfish assholes who won't be troubled to take a simple precaution such as wearing a mask in public. I've just totally fucking had it.

(28,854 posts)I guess the variants are increasing, and the states
that opened up are having a surge.
People are feeling more safe now bc of the vaccine
and the previous downturn.
And there's Covid fatigue.

I don't doubt it's spring break kids coming back from Florida.
Our Governor just lifted the restriction on hours for alcohol sales, which means the college kids are going to be packing the bars immediately.

(31,513 posts)significantly, we have reached a plateau. In the past, when we reached a plateau, people got complacent about taking proper precautions and the numbers started to rise again. It appears that this is what is happening now. When restrictions are eased or removed, too many people think the danger is gone and they no longer follow safe procedures.

(7,811 posts)aren't seeing the spring break surge yet. This is likely from covid fatigue, some states opening up, and the UK variant now dominant in the US. What happens from here isn't exactly guesswork because epidemiologists expected an increase, but we don't know how quick and how large the surge will be...we are waiting to see data from what has already happened.

(402 posts)Now that Governor Whitmer started easing restrictions due to, what I assuming, threats from the republican held legislature. We've got WAY to many crazy righties in rural areas to really get proper governance here.
Glad I've already got my first shot and eager for the second...

(3,131 posts)This isnt even not understanding the two week lag, its as simple as not applying brakes going downhill means youll speed up.
I hope the vaccines prevent another surge. This is our 3rd plateau.
Watching peoples reaction to the pandemic makes me pessimistic well do anywhere near enough to prevent devastating climate change.

(806 posts)...watch a horror movie and say, "No one can be that stupid!" when I see people walk into a basement where they here growling sounds. Covid has shown me that people can be, and are, that stupid. It's kind of mind-boggling to see.
