https://www.yahoo.com/news/gop-party-no-hope-endless-090439043.htmlAfter four years of Trumpism, weve learned that Trumpism has very few core tenets except lower taxes for the wealthy and that government is bad. Some people like Rand Paul have been running on government is bad their entire careers, but the problem with being a member of the government who wants to destroy the government is that when a problem arises that the government could theoretically fix, you cant participate because you would be encouraging the use of government.
Yes, this Republican Party is filled with men of no action. Meet the Helpless Caucusa group of laissez-faire nihilists who want you vote so they can crush the government youd like them to run.

Gun violence is not the only thing that Republicans have no interest in legislating. Theres also the pandemic, which has killed almost as many people as the population of Wyoming. Former President Trump and numerous members of his party seemed at best apathetic to COVID. Trump argued that if the economic shutdown continues, deaths by suicide definitely would be in far greater numbers than the numbers that were talking about for COVID-19 deaths.
During the early months of the pandemic the White House could have use the Defense Production Act as they claimed to but they largely didnt. The New York Times noted that the Trump administration suggested that wielding that authority would have amounted to left-wing overreach. Yes, the Trump administration thought using the Defense Production Act was some kind of hippy dippy voodoo.

(7,430 posts)Their circular logic is exactly what makes them toxic and politically suicidal. The only reason that they continue to remain on the political landscape is that they are populated with masters in the art of serial lying--- and millions of people are enraptured by their lies. Being elected to the government that they are intent on destroying has a certain appeal-- to people who have no idea what would come next.
Of course, the GOP strategists know exactly what will come next: an oligarchy run by an authoritarian, anti-democratic leader. It's what they hoped would become reality by coddling Trump for five years or more, all the way to the present. They supported his coup attempt while having one foot in Constitutional government. Now they can lie their way back into power if they can keep getting cover by right wing media. We now watch them minimize the destructiveness and violence of the insurrection to mollify the rich GOPers and convince them that it was all just a jolly game. The GOP itself failed to overthrow the government. Yes, it wasn't just Trump and his army of misfits and thugs.
It was the entire GOP-- including Mittens Romney. If Romney REALLY wanted to express extreme displeasure at the GOP, he'd have quit the party in protest. Instead, he manufactured a media moment to give himself a little more gravitas, while staying a Republican in a party devoid of loyalty to the Constitution. His "heroic moment" was really a capitulation in disguise.
